Should you add another screen protector?
No—not on the flexible inner display. Motorola says the Razr comes with a Motorola-developed protector and advises against removing it or adding a third-party film. An extra film may affect touch sensitivity or damage the display. Motorola’s advice concerns the inner screen; check the instructions for your exact model and region before applying anything to the outer cover display.
Motorola’s older general Razr care page says “Never use a screen protector,” while newer model-specific guidance explains that the inner screen already has its own protector. For the foldable inner display, follow the newer, model-specific instructions and the manual for your phone.
How to protect the screen and hinge day to day
- Check before folding. Look for dust, grit, cards, coins, keys, or anything else between the display surfaces or near the hinge. Remove anything you find before closing the phone.
- Close the phone before carrying it. Motorola advises closing the Razr before placing it in a pocket or purse. Don’t fold it over an object caught between the screens.
- Avoid sharp objects and concentrated pressure. Don’t puncture the flexible display or press hard on its center. Avoid tapping or scraping it with a pen, stylus, fingernail, or other sharp object.
- Keep dust and grit away from the hinge. Motorola warns that dust exposure can reduce hinge life and damage the display. A case does not make the hinge dustproof.
How to clean the Razr safely
For the Razr 2026, Motorola recommends a dry, soft cloth for routine cleaning. Don’t use an abrasive cloth or spray cleaner directly on the screen, and keep moisture out of the phone’s openings. Instructions can differ by model: Motorola’s older general Razr care guidance permits pre-moistened screen wipes or a lint-free cloth. Follow the manual for your specific phone if it differs.

What water resistance does—and does not—mean
Motorola lists IP48 lab-tested resistance for the Razr 2026, but that does not make the phone waterproof or dustproof. Motorola says resistance decreases with wear, and dust remains a risk to the hinge and display. It advises against beach or pool use; avoid pressurized water, salt water, prolonged exposure to moisture, and charging the phone while it is wet. These details apply to the 2026 model and should not be assumed for other generations.
When the inner-screen protector lifts or gets damaged
If the installed protector develops bubbles, warps, or separates from the screen, contact an authorized Motorola service center. Motorola specifically advises service in these cases. Don’t peel the protector off or treat an unapproved replacement film as an equivalent fix.
Motorola support describes mail-in, carry-in, and DIY repair options. However, the company says damage caused by DIY repair may affect standard warranty coverage, and physical damage is outside the standard warranty. MotoCare Accident Protection is described as covering eligible physical and liquid damage caused by drops and spills; eligibility, terms, availability, and cost depend on the plan and market.
