1. Decide what notifications reveal on the lock screen
Choose whether a locked Razr should show notification details or simply indicate that a notification arrived. On the Motorola Razr 2025 (North America), the guide includes lock-screen notification styles and actions, including an option to show notifications while hiding sensitive content. It also documents a “Safe reply” control that can require unlocking before replying from a notification. See Motorola’s Razr 2025 user guide for the model-specific controls.
A practical starting point is to hide sensitive content and require unlocking for replies if other people might see your phone. If you rely on quick replies, decide whether that convenience is worth allowing responses from the locked screen.
2. Blur the external-display lock screen if it shows a personal photo
On the Motorola Razr+ 2025, open Settings > External display > Lock screen and adjust the background-image blur slider. More blur can make a personal wallpaper less recognizable to someone glancing at the outer screen. The control is documented for the Razr+ 2025; it may not appear on other Razr models. 3. Choose what opening and closing the phone do during calls
Opening the Razr can answer an incoming call, and closing it can disconnect a call. Motorola’s Razr 2025 guide says owners can turn off Flip open to answer or choose to continue a call after closing the phone. Review these behaviors rather than assuming the hinge action matches your preference; the available labels and controls may vary by model and software.
4. Pick which gestures wake the sleep display
Depending on the device, Motorola documents waking the interactive sleep display by tapping, lifting or nudging the phone, or waving a hand near the external display. Keep the triggers that make checking the time or notifications convenient, and turn off those that wake the screen unintentionally. On the documented Razr 2025, turning off Sleep display also removes Desk display. Consult the model’s guide before changing it.

5. Set external-display app transitions to match your routine
For apps allowed on the external display, Motorola’s Razr 2025 guide describes three transition choices:
- Auto transition: a selected app can become available immediately when you close the phone.
- Manual transition: you choose whether to move the app to the external display.
- Don’t transition: the app does not follow that transition when you close the phone.
Use Auto for apps you regularly want to continue using on the outer screen. Manual is a more deliberate choice; Don’t transition suits apps you prefer to keep on the internal display. The relevant setting is described as “Allow app transition from internal to external display” in Motorola’s Razr 2025 user guide.

6. Keep pictures dimmed in Tent and Stand desk modes
On the supported Razr+ 2025, go to Settings > External display > Desk display and leave Dim pictures & album covers on for both Tent and Stand modes. Motorola recommends this to help extend battery life and lessen the risk of image burn-in on the external display. The support instructions do not quantify the battery-life or display-longevity benefit, so treat it as a preventive recommendation rather than a guaranteed result. 7. Adjust brightness, text size, and appearance for readability
The Razr 2025 guide includes Adaptive brightness, Dark theme, color modes, and controls for text and icon size. These are preference-led settings: increase text or icon size if you have to strain to read the screen, and choose the color mode and theme you find comfortable. Adaptive brightness can adjust screen brightness to the environment. Motorola’s guide does not quantify a battery saving from Dark theme, so choose it for appearance or comfort rather than a promised battery-life gain.

8. Enable only the gestures you will actually use
Motorola’s Razr 2026 help page says gesture controls can be switched independently. Examples include twisting to launch the camera, chopping to toggle the flashlight, taking a screenshot or opening split-screen with three fingers, lift-to-unlock, and turning on Do Not Disturb by placing the phone face down. Keep the gestures you can remember and use; disable any that trigger accidentally or conflict with your routine. Feature availability and menu names can differ across Razr generations. Which settings are worth changing first?
If you only want to make a few changes, prioritize lock-screen notification privacy, call behavior when opening or closing the phone, and sleep-display wake gestures. If you use the external display often, also review its lock-screen blur, app transitions, and desk-display dimming. After that, tune readability and gestures based on how you use the phone.
