One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor sharp photos, focus deliberately and expose for the subject; for natural-looking video motion, choose your delivery frame rate first and use a shutter speed near twice that rate as a starting point. In bright light, an ND filter can help preserve that shutter choice. There is no single setting that is best for every subject or lighting condition.
What the Mini 5 Pro camera can capture
DJI lists the Mini 5 Pro with a 50 MP 1-inch CMOS sensor and an f/1.8 lens. Its listed video capabilities include 4K/60 fps HDR and 4K/120 fps slow motion. These are different capture options, not settings that should be treated as interchangeable: use HDR when that format suits the scene and workflow, and use 120 fps when you intend to create slow motion.
The lens aperture is specified as f/1.8. The guidance below therefore focuses on shutter speed, ISO, exposure, and filters rather than suggesting aperture adjustments.
Settings for sharper still photos
Focus before taking the picture
DJI’s user manual identifies the control as the Focus/Shutter Button: “Press halfway down to auto-focus and press all the way down to take a photo.” Half-press, confirm the subject is in focus, then complete the press. This is especially useful when the subject is small in the frame or the scene contains distracting foreground objects.

Choose resolution and file format for your workflow
Pick a still resolution and JPEG or RAW workflow based on the intended output and how much editing you plan to do. The available evidence does not establish that one resolution or file format is universally sharper. Review the captured image at full size when detail matters rather than judging sharpness only from the controller preview.
Expose for the subject and its movement
Check the live view for clipped highlights and lost shadow detail, then review an image after capture. Brightness and subject movement both matter: a moving subject may need a faster shutter to limit motion blur, while a static scene gives you more flexibility. There is no universal still-photo shutter or ISO recipe supported for every light level and subject.

Choose video settings by delivery and motion
Set the frame rate first
Choose a frame rate that matches the intended playback and the look of the movement. Rates such as 24, 25, or 30 fps are practical starting points for standard-speed footage. Higher frame rates are useful when slow motion is the goal, but the resulting clip and exposure should be planned around that use. DJI lists 4K/120 fps for slow motion, separately from its 4K/60 fps HDR capability.
Use shutter speed as a motion-rendering choice
For conventional-looking motion blur, a useful starting point is a shutter speed roughly twice the frame rate: for example, 1/50 second at 25 fps. DJI’s videography guide gives the example, “Start at 4K/25fps with a 1/50s shutter.” Treat this as a starting point, not a rule: a faster shutter can make motion look crisper, while a slower one can increase blur, and the right result depends on movement and creative intent.

Manage bright light with exposure and ND filters
In strong daylight, the shutter speed suggested by your chosen frame rate may let in too much light. An ND filter reduces the light reaching the sensor, helping you retain that shutter choice without overexposing the image. DJI lists a Mini 5 Pro ND8/32/128 set. Choose filter strength from the actual exposure rather than assuming a particular filter is always right at a given time of day; not every video needs an ND filter.
Adjust exposure using shutter speed, ISO, and an appropriate ND filter when needed. Check the current DJI manual and firmware for the exact in-app controls, since menus can change.

Choose a color profile for the amount of editing you want
D-Log M for footage you plan to grade
Use D-Log M when color grading is part of your workflow. DJI provides an official Mini 5 Pro D-Log M-to-Rec.709 LUT for conversion. A log profile is not a shortcut to a finished look; plan to process the footage before sharing it.
Standard profile for a simpler finish
If you want a clip that is ready to share with little post-production, a standard profile is the simpler choice. Select the profile according to the footage’s destination and your willingness to grade rather than assuming one profile is best for every use.

A practical starting-point checklist
- Photos: Half-press the Focus/Shutter Button to autofocus, inspect exposure, then take the picture. Choose resolution and JPEG or RAW according to output and editing needs.
- Standard-speed video: Pick the delivery frame rate, then consider a shutter speed near twice that rate for natural-looking motion blur.
- Bright daylight: Check exposure and add an ND filter if needed to maintain the selected shutter speed.
- Slow motion: Choose a higher frame rate such as DJI’s listed 4K/120 fps option when slow-motion playback is intended.
- Color workflow: Choose D-Log M if you will grade; choose a standard profile for a simpler ready-to-share workflow.
