You can use a Lenovo Idea Tab Plus as a laptop’s second screen by streaming the computer’s desktop to the Android tablet with an app such as spacedesk. On a Windows laptop, install spacedesk DRIVER on the laptop and spacedesk VIEWER on the tablet, connect both over a reachable network, then choose whether Windows should extend or duplicate its desktop. The Idea Tab Plus’s listed USB-C port is USB 2.0 with charging; Lenovo’s specifications do not document it as a video input, so a simple USB-C-to-HDMI cable is not a supported way to use the tablet as a monitor.
What you need
- A Windows laptop running Windows 10 or 11, which spacedesk lists as a supported primary machine.
- The Idea Tab Plus and the spacedesk VIEWER app for Android.
- Permission to install spacedesk DRIVER on the laptop.
- A TCP/IP connection between the laptop and tablet. Wi-Fi is the most straightforward starting point; spacedesk also lists USB and network cable connection options, but compatibility of a specific USB setup with the Idea Tab Plus is not established.
Lenovo lists the Idea Tab Plus with a 12.1-inch, 2560 × 1600 IPS display and 90 Hz refresh rate in the cited model specification. The same listing describes its USB-C port as Hi-Speed USB/USB 2.0 with charging. Confirm the specifications for your exact SKU and region before assuming they match: Lenovo PSREF and the Idea Tab Plus specification document.
Set up spacedesk on Windows and Android
- On the Windows laptop, download and install the spacedesk DRIVER from the official spacedesk site. The driver runs on the Windows computer and provides the virtual display used to extend or duplicate the desktop.
- On the Idea Tab Plus, install and open spacedesk VIEWER for Android. The app acts as the receiving display.
- Connect the laptop and tablet to the same reachable TCP/IP network. Open the viewer and select the laptop/server when it appears. If it is not listed, check that both devices can reach one another on the network and that the laptop’s firewall or network policy is not blocking the connection.
- In Windows, open Settings > System > Display. Select the option to extend or duplicate the desktop, then arrange the display rectangles to match where the tablet sits relative to the laptop. Windows settings labels can vary slightly by version.
spacedesk documents the Windows-driver and Android-viewer arrangement and says the captured Windows screen is transmitted over LAN/TCP-IP. Its materials also list Wi-Fi, USB and network cable as possible connection methods. The general setup is documented, but no Idea Tab Plus-specific screenshots or exact app controls are provided; the steps above describe the expected workflow rather than a model-specific tested sequence. See the spacedesk download and setup information.
Choose a connection method
| Connection | What is established | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Wi-Fi | spacedesk supports network streaming over TCP/IP. | Both devices need a network path to each other. Actual responsiveness depends on the network and configuration; no measured Idea Tab Plus latency is published in the cited materials. |
| USB | spacedesk lists USB as a possible connection approach. | The available documentation does not confirm that a particular cable, driver setup or USB mode works with this tablet. Do not assume any USB-C cable will provide a direct video signal. |
| Network cable | spacedesk lists a wired network connection as an option. | Use only if your devices and adapters can establish a compatible TCP/IP network connection; no model-specific adapter guidance is established here. |
Can you connect it as a monitor with USB-C?
Do not treat the Idea Tab Plus’s USB-C port as a conventional display input. Lenovo describes the port as USB 2.0/Hi-Speed USB with charging, and the cited product specifications do not describe video input. A USB-C-to-HDMI cable normally outputs video from a source device; it does not make an Android tablet accept HDMI video. For this tablet, use a software viewer and a compatible connection rather than expecting a direct wired monitor connection.

What about Lenovo Smart Connect?
Lenovo’s Smart Connect support page describes extending a PC display to a tablet in the context of supported Idea Tab and Tab K11 Gen 2 devices, but it does not name the Idea Tab Plus. A third-party video published March 5, 2026 shows a Smart Connect pairing flow on an Idea Tab Plus, including QR pairing and an “Extend PC Display” choice; that is secondary evidence and may depend on regional firmware or app versions. If Smart Connect is already available on both your exact tablet and PC, you can check its on-screen setup, but do not assume Lenovo officially confirms Idea Tab Plus support. See Lenovo’s Smart Connect overview.

The tablet’s high-resolution panel can display a streamed desktop, but the cited sources do not report measured latency, streamed resolution, color accuracy or frame rate for this specific tablet-and-software combination. Results will depend on the network and software configuration, so treat it as a convenient extra workspace rather than assuming it will behave like a native wired monitor. A stand may improve desk positioning, but it is optional and not required by the software.

If the tablet does not appear in spacedesk
- Confirm spacedesk DRIVER is installed and running on the Windows laptop, and that VIEWER is open on the tablet.
- Check that both devices are on a network that allows local device-to-device traffic. Guest Wi-Fi or managed networks may isolate clients.
- Review Windows firewall or organizational security settings if the viewer cannot discover the laptop. Do not disable security protections broadly; use the relevant app or network permission if permitted.
- If testing USB, remember that spacedesk’s general support for USB does not establish a working model-specific Idea Tab Plus connection. Return to Wi-Fi or another TCP/IP method if the USB path is unavailable.
