Marvell Technology makes semiconductors and related intellectual property for data infrastructure. Its chips help compute, move and switch data, handle network functions, and control storage in data centers, enterprise and carrier networks, and some consumer devices. Rather than mainly selling finished gadgets, Marvell designs components that its customers incorporate into their systems.
What does Marvell make?
Marvell describes itself as “a leading supplier of data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, spanning the data center core to network edge.” In practice, its portfolio ranges from customer-specific chips to components that carry data between processors, servers, networks, and storage devices.

These categories describe what the components do, not necessarily separate finished products a consumer can buy. Marvell’s customers integrate chips and intellectual property into servers, networking equipment, storage products, and other systems. Its official portfolio also includes Structera CXL and Alaska PCIe Gen 6 retimers; product generations and availability can change.
Where are Marvell chips used?
Marvell’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K groups its end markets into two reporting categories: data center, and communications and other. Those categories describe company reporting; individual chips can serve more than one application depending on a customer’s design.

Data centers
Data-center applications include AI systems and servers, general-purpose servers, Ethernet switching, network-attached storage (NAS), other storage systems, storage-area networks, and data-center interconnect. Some products compute or process network functions; others connect servers, switches, and storage or move data over optical links.
Communications and other
This reporting category brings together enterprise networking, carrier infrastructure, consumer products, and selected industrial and government applications. Examples include network equipment, broadband gateways, gaming consoles, and PCs. The products are components inside those systems, not necessarily devices marketed under the Marvell name.

How do custom chips differ from Marvell’s other products?
A custom ASIC is designed for a particular customer’s requirements, whereas a merchant component is offered as part of a product portfolio for multiple potential customers to evaluate and integrate. Both approaches can serve data infrastructure: a customer may need a tailored chip for its system, or a standard component such as a retimer, switch, or storage controller. Marvell’s ASIC platform can combine several kinds of IP and packaging technologies, so a custom design may bring together functions that also appear across the broader portfolio.
What is Marvell’s recent business context?
Marvell reported fiscal 2026 net revenue of $8.2 billion, up 42% from fiscal 2025, in its FY2026 Form 10-K. The company attributed data-center growth to AI-related demand for custom products and electro-optics, and said communications and other recovered from an inventory correction. These are Marvell’s reported results and explanation, not independent market estimates.

Marvell completed the sale of its automotive Ethernet business to Infineon Technologies AG on August 14, 2025. It is therefore inaccurate to describe that divested business as a current Marvell product line. Marvell’s broader application discussion still mentions some industrial and automotive-adjacent uses, which should be distinguished from the business it sold.

Marvell components can be used in consumer products such as broadband gateways, gaming consoles, and PCs, but the company is primarily a semiconductor supplier rather than a consumer-device brand. A retail Ethernet adapter, for example, may use a Marvell controller, but that alone does not mean Marvell made or sells the finished adapter; check the specific product’s chipset and compatibility details.
