There is no established universal PC specification for PS5 emulation. RPCS5 publishes its own minimum and recommended hardware tiers, but those are project guidance—not independently verified benchmarks or a guarantee that a particular game will run. Other projects describe themselves as experimental or still in development, so check the requirements and compatibility status for the specific emulator and game before buying hardware.
RPCS5’s published PC requirements
RPCS5 lists the following configurations on its requirements page. These are the project’s stated tiers; they have not been independently benchmarked here, and they should not be treated as a universal PS5-emulation standard. The page lists version 0.4.2, released September 9, 2026, but a release date does not establish performance or compatibility.

RPCS5 adds that processors without AVX-512 and with fewer than eight cores may run poorly. It calls 8 GB the absolute memory minimum and recommends dual-channel RAM. Its storage estimates are 1,024 MB for base emulator data, 8 GB for cache, and 512 MB per game. These are RPCS5’s own estimates, not general requirements for every PS5 emulator. Why requirements differ between PS5 emulator projects
Projects may use different graphics APIs, support different operating systems, and be at very different stages of development. Their component lists are not standardized against the same games or test procedures, so comparing them does not show that one configuration will deliver equivalent performance in another emulator.

SharpEmu
SharpEmu says a Vulkan-capable GPU and current graphics driver are required, but the repository material reviewed does not give a comparable CPU, GPU, and RAM tier. It describes the project as experimental and early-stage: it can load real-game eboot.bin files, execute native CPU instructions, and partially handle GPU-related functionality. Its stated focus is accuracy and infrastructure, not broad game compatibility. The project warns that performance and compatibility vary by game, operating system, and graphics driver. Check the SharpEmu repository for its current status and requirements.
ShadPS5
ShadPS5 gives an informal desired configuration of an AVX2-capable CPU, Vulkan-capable graphics (illustrated with a GTX 1060 or RX 560 as a minimum), and 16 GB RAM. Its site also labels the project in development and says games are not yet playable. That status makes its component guidance unsuitable as a dependable specification for playing PS5 games. Do not use PS4 emulator requirements as PS5 requirements
ShadPS4 is a PlayStation 4 emulator, not a PS5 emulator. Its hardware guidance does not establish what a PC needs for PS5 emulation. Its quickstart guide identifies the project as a PS4 emulator.
Can your PC run a PS5 emulator?
It depends on the emulator, the game, and the PC’s hardware and software. Meeting a project’s listed minimum only means the system meets that project’s stated entry-level guidance; it does not prove that a target game will boot or run well. RPCS5 warns that errors, bugs, and games that fail to boot can occur, while SharpEmu says compatibility and performance vary. A capable PC cannot compensate for an emulator that does not yet support the game.

- Identify the particular PS5 emulator and check its latest requirements.
- Check whether that emulator lists the game as compatible or playable.
- Confirm that your GPU supports the graphics API the emulator requires; for SharpEmu, the stated requirement is Vulkan.
- Check the operating-system and graphics-driver guidance for that emulator.
- Compare your CPU, memory configuration, graphics card, and available storage with the project’s own specifications—not with a different emulator’s list.
Because these projects are evolving, their published requirements and compatibility can change. Recheck the project documentation and target-game status close to the time you plan to use or purchase hardware.
