Neither a prebuilt RTX 5060 Ti PC nor a do-it-yourself build is automatically the better value. Compare the prebuilt with a complete DIY parts list that uses the same RTX 5060 Ti memory variant and similar supporting components, then weigh the final price against assembly, warranty, and support. A graphics-card price or headline PC price alone cannot settle the comparison.
Start by identifying the RTX 5060 Ti variant
The RTX 5060 Ti is available with either 8GB or 16GB of memory. Those are different configurations, so check the listing or manufacturer specifications before comparing a PC with a DIY quote. NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti guide covers the card and its specifications.
Also match the rest of the system to the use you have in mind. A processor can affect gaming results, and memory capacity and storage configuration change both the system’s capabilities and its cost. Retailer examples show that RTX 5060 Ti PCs come with different processor, memory, and storage combinations; the GPU name by itself does not describe a complete or comparable system.
What current price evidence can—and cannot—tell you
PC Gamer reported listings for the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at $779.99 from Newegg, $788.99 from Best Buy, and $788.50 from Amazon in 2026. These are reported retailer listings, not guaranteed live prices or a market average. Recheck each listing before using it in a build calculation: prices, stock, sales, taxes, and shipping can change.

Those figures cover the graphics card, not a finished PC or a matched DIY basket. NVIDIA’s guide includes launch-price information, but launch pricing is not a substitute for a current street price. Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 build guide recommends the 16GB variant at the tier it discusses and notes that the card’s price had risen substantially compared with its earlier build. That is advice for that guide’s build tier, not proof that the 16GB card or a DIY system is always the better value.
Compare complete, like-for-like systems
Use the prebuilt’s actual configuration as the baseline. Build a DIY parts list that meets the same target rather than pricing only a GPU, CPU, and memory kit. If a prebuilt includes an operating system or other components, account for them in the DIY total as well.

| Item to match or include | What to check |
|---|---|
| Graphics card | RTX 5060 Ti variant: 8GB or 16GB. |
| Processor | Exact model, then whether it suits the games and settings you intend to use. The available sources do not establish matched benchmarks for specific systems. |
| Memory | Capacity and configuration; compare like with like. |
| Storage | Capacity and configuration, not just whether the PC has an SSD. |
| Motherboard | The exact board or a genuinely comparable replacement and its relevant features. |
| Power supply | Whether one is included and the exact model or specifications when available. |
| Case and cooling | Included case and cooling hardware, and any parts needed for the DIY build. |
| Operating system | Whether the prebuilt includes one and what the DIY system requires. |
| Shipping and taxes | Include them in the checkout total for each option and region. |
| Assembly | Include a paid assembly charge if applicable, or consider the time and effort of building it yourself. |
| Warranty and support | Read the terms for the specific PC, components, and seller. The available sources do not verify matched warranty terms. |
The comparison should use the same region and the prices you can actually check out with. The available price examples are US-oriented and do not provide a complete matched bill of materials, tax and shipping totals, or a paired warranty comparison. They therefore cannot establish a specific DIY saving or a universal prebuilt premium.
When a prebuilt or DIY build may suit you better
Consider DIY when
- A complete parts list with the same GPU variant and comparable components comes in below the prebuilt’s all-in price.
- You value choosing the individual parts and are comfortable assembling the PC or paying for assembly.
- You have checked the costs and terms that a headline component price leaves out, including the operating system, taxes, shipping, and support.
Consider a prebuilt when
- The exact configuration meets your needs and its price is competitive with a genuinely matched DIY basket.
- You prefer a ready-assembled system or value the specific seller’s support and warranty terms.
- You have reviewed the component details rather than assuming that two PCs with the same GPU name are otherwise equivalent.
A practical way to make the decision
- Record the prebuilt’s exact RTX 5060 Ti variant, processor, memory, storage, and other listed components.
- Price a DIY configuration that matches those parts or provides a clearly comparable setup, including the operating system if required.
- Compare checkout totals after shipping and taxes; add any assembly charge and account for the time you would spend building.
- Read the warranty and support documents for each specific option, then decide whether those terms justify any remaining price difference.
For context, Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 build guide offers a guide-specific recommendation for the 16GB card, while retailer listings illustrate how much the rest of a prebuilt configuration can vary. Neither supplies a controlled performance-per-dollar comparison between a named prebuilt and an equivalent DIY build. The decision ultimately depends on the exact parts and prices available to you.
