Compare your PC with EA’s minimum and recommended requirements, then check its frame rate in an actual match. EA’s recommended tier is aimed at smooth 60 FPS gameplay, but it is not a guarantee for every system or monitor. The in-game Performance Display is the practical way to see how your PC performs.

Check your PC against Apex Legends’ requirements

EA lists separate minimum and recommended specifications for the PC version. The minimum tier is a compatibility baseline; the recommended tier is EA’s reference for smooth 60 FPS gameplay. Compare your exact processor and graphics-card models, installed memory, DirectX support, and available storage with the table. These requirements are listed on EA’s official Apex Legends PC requirements page (accessed October 7, 2026).

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system 64-bit Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10
CPU Intel Core i3-6300 at 3.8 GHz or AMD FX-4350 at 4.2 GHz quad-core Intel i5-3570K or equivalent
RAM 6 GB 8 GB
GPU NVIDIA GTX 950 or AMD Radeon HD 7790 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290
GPU memory and DirectX 2 GB GPU RAM; DirectX 12 feature level 12_0 required EA lists 8 GB GPU RAM and specifies DirectX 12 support
Free disk space 75 GB 75 GB

The graphics-card names are the models EA lists as requirements; they are not current buying recommendations. Likewise, matching an older listed model does not establish a specific frame rate for a different, newer card.

Find your PC’s specifications

Use Windows system information and display settings to identify the installed processor, RAM, and graphics card. Check the drive where you plan to install the game for available space. For the GPU, verify DirectX 12 compatibility and, for the minimum specification, feature level 12_0. Then compare the exact models and amounts—not just a brand name or a broad label such as “gaming PC”—with EA’s table.

Measure FPS in the game

A requirements comparison cannot predict the exact FPS your PC will deliver. EA’s built-in Performance Display shows FPS and ping during play, letting you judge actual performance in the conditions that matter to you.

  1. Launch Apex Legends and open Settings.
  2. Choose Gameplay.
  3. Turn on Performance Display.
  4. Play a match and observe the FPS shown in the top-right corner.

EA documents this setting in its guide to displaying an FPS counter in EA games on PC. The counter also shows ping. FPS is about rendered frames and visual smoothness; ping is network information, so a high ping reading alone is not evidence that your graphics card is underpowered.

ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3050 6GB GDDR6 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card
  • NVIDIA Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors: The all-new Ampere SM brings 2X the FP32 throughput and improved power efficiency.
  • 2nd Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray-tracing performance.
  • 3rd Generation Tensor Cores: Get up to 2X the throughput with structural sparsity and advanced AI algorithms such as DLSS. These cores deliver a massive boost in game performance and all-new AI capabilities.
  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
  • OC Mode : 1500 MHz (Boost Clock)/Default Mode : 1470 MHz (Boost Clock)

Judge more than a brief reading: observe the counter during ordinary gameplay, since one isolated number is not a guarantee of sustained performance. Your monitor also matters. EA notes that monitor support affects visual output and says most players aim for around 60 FPS in its PC FPS guidance. Treat 60 FPS as a useful reference, not a promised result for every PC that meets the recommended tier.

What to do if the game does not feel smooth

Lower graphics settings and retest

EA recommends using the lowest graphics settings possible when maximizing FPS. If you want to find a more balanced setting, lower a few graphics options at a time, play again, and watch the Performance Display. This helps show whether a change improves the result on your system; EA does not promise a particular FPS gain from any setting.

  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

EA’s Apex Legends PC settings guidance also cautions that changing the FPS cap can cause performance issues and advises checking your PC specifications before changing it. Avoid assuming an unverified launch command, third-party utility, or single preset will guarantee smooth play.

Identify the shortfall before considering an upgrade

If settings changes do not meet your target, check which specific component falls below the relevant tier: CPU, GPU and DirectX support, RAM, or available storage. A PC can have one mismatch without every component needing replacement. EA’s requirements establish the listed baseline, but do not identify a particular current graphics card, processor, or complete PC to buy. For any upgrade decision, compare current independent benchmarks and prices for the exact parts you are considering.

How to interpret “smoothly”

Start with EA’s recommended smooth-60-FPS target, then compare it with the FPS you observe and the capabilities of your monitor. The minimum specification alone should not be read as a 60 FPS promise, and meeting recommended specifications does not guarantee identical performance across systems. Requirements and game performance can change with updates, so check EA’s requirements page for the latest listed specifications.
