Turn on subtitles on a TV, console, or media device
- Pause the video.
- Open Captions in the playback controls.
- Select a language if one is available. To adjust appearance, open Caption style and change the font, background, or window settings.
The exact controls can vary by device. If Captions is visible but unavailable, the video may not offer captions; if it is not shown, captions are unavailable for that video on that device. YouTube Help: Manage caption settings.
Change the subtitle language or use Auto-translate
Open the video’s Captions or Subtitles/CC menu and choose a listed language. If the language you want is not listed, look for Auto-translate and select a language there if the option is offered. Neither a particular language track nor Auto-translate is available for every video or platform. YouTube says automatic captions, when available, are in the video’s default language. Subtitles and captions on YouTube
