To control who can send files to your Chromebook, open Quick Share from the time area at the bottom right and select a visibility option. Choose Your devices for devices signed in to your Google Account, Contacts for nearby contacts while the screen is on and unlocked, Hidden to stay undiscoverable until you make the Chromebook visible, or Available to everyone to allow anyone nearby to find it temporarily.
Change who can discover your Chromebook
- Select the time at the bottom right of the screen.
- Select Quick Share. You can also open Quick Share through Settings.
- Choose the visibility option you want.
Google says Quick Share is off by default. To turn it off, open Settings > Connected devices and switch off Quick Share. Google Chromebook Help
What each visibility option allows
| Visibility option | Who can discover the Chromebook | When it is useful |

Set up Quick Share if it is not configured
- Select the time at the bottom right, then select Settings.
- In the left menu, select Connected devices.
- Next to Quick Share, select Set up.
- Choose a device name and select Done.
- Choose Device visibility, select an option, and confirm.
Receive a file and manage a request
Your Chromebook must be visible to the sender to receive a file. To make it temporarily visible, select the time and then Quick Share; temporary visibility lasts up to 10 minutes. When a request arrives, select the device name and visibility, select Turn on if prompted, then select Accept.

- Note: Make sure your smartphone is equipped with OTG function and need to open OTG function in Settings when you plug memory stick, then you can transfer easily data bewteen different devices
Google says transfers between a Chromebook and an Android device or Chromebook signed in to the same Google Account are automatically accepted. See Google’s Chromebook Help instructions.
What happens when the screen is locked or off
If the Chromebook screen is off or locked, visibility automatically switches to Your devices, and you cannot change the visibility setting in either state. To use another visibility option, turn on and unlock the screen before changing it.

Work or school Chromebook considerations
Quick Share features may not work with a phone on a work or school Chromebook. Google advises contacting the Chromebook administrator for help.
