Set one or two Bitcoin price alerts at levels that would change what you do next, choose only the delivery channels you need, and use a one-time trigger or expiry when available. A price alert is a notification—not an automatic Bitcoin order—and each platform handles setup and repeat notifications differently.
Before you create an alert: decide what should trigger it
Choose a price condition you would act on or reassess, such as Bitcoin moving above or below a level you are watching. There is no evidence-based universal number of alerts or ideal threshold; the useful setting depends on your own decision. Avoid adding alerts just because the app offers them.
Keep in mind that an alert does not place a trade or guarantee that you will see or act on a notification at a particular time. Coinbase explicitly describes its price alerts as notifications that an asset has reached a price, not orders to buy or sell. See Coinbase’s price-alert instructions.
Set a Bitcoin alert in Coinbase mobile
- Search for Bitcoin and select the asset.
- Tap the star icon to add Bitcoin to your watchlist. Coinbase says an asset must be watchlisted for its price alert to send.
- Tap the bell-plus icon, choose Add Alert, select whether the alert should trigger above or below a price, enter the target, and save.
- To choose how alerts arrive, open Account & Settings > Notification Settings. Under Price Alerts, set a frequency for predetermined alerts; under Custom Alerts, adjust delivery for custom alerts. Toggle push, in-app, or email notifications to suit your preference.
- To remove an alert, open the relevant Price Alerts or Custom Alerts section and use its three-dot menu.
Coinbase’s walkthrough is at Set and receive price alerts. Its notification settings also note that some important account or security alerts may still be sent even when other notification types are disabled; see Manage notifications.

Set an alert in Kraken
On the web
- Open the Alerts widget and allow browser notifications if you want alerts to appear in the browser.
- Create an alert, select the market and trigger parameters, then enter a price or use a percentage adjustment.
In the mobile app
- Allow push notifications both in your device settings and in the Kraken app.
- Open the alert modal from the bell in Markets, or long-tap a market or open order.
- Set the market and trigger details, then save the alert.
Kraken provides active and historical alert lists and lets you edit or delete active alerts. Its support page, updated January 20, 2026, says Futures alerts cannot currently be created in the app. A Futures alert created on the web can still reach a phone if mobile price-alert pushes are enabled, though the notification may not open the correct market page. Kraken Desktop documents alert syncing across Kraken Pro and mobile apps. Details are in Kraken Market Alerts.

- In Supercharts, select the BTC symbol.
- Create an alert using the toolbar, Alert manager, chart context menu, price scale, or keyboard shortcut.
- Choose the condition and trigger frequency. To limit repeat messages, choose Only once where appropriate; other documented choices include every time, once per bar close, or once per minute.
- Choose delivery actions, such as app notification, pop-up, email, webhook, sound, or plain text, and set an expiration date.
TradingView’s alert configuration guide explains the trigger and delivery options at Learn how to configure alerts. Its setup guide lists the ways to create an alert in Supercharts at How to set up alerts. According to TradingView’s introduction, standard alerts last a maximum of two months; Premium and Ultimate plans offer an open-ended option. See Introduction to TradingView alerts.

Compare the alert controls before choosing a platform
| Platform | Setup and trigger controls | Delivery and repeat controls | Maintenance and limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase mobile | Bitcoin must be on the watchlist; choose above or below a target. | Push, in-app, and email toggles; frequency settings are available for predetermined alerts. | Delete from the relevant alert section. Some important account or security alerts may still be sent when other notification types are disabled. |
| Kraken | Create alerts on web or mobile; choose a market and trigger parameters, with price or percentage adjustments. | Web browser notifications or mobile push, subject to browser, device, and app permissions. | Active and historical lists; active alerts can be edited or deleted. Futures alerts cannot currently be created in the app. |
| TradingView | Create from several Supercharts entry points; choose a condition and trigger frequency. | App notification, pop-up, email, webhook, sound, or plain text; options include one-time triggering and expiry. | Standard alerts last up to two months; Premium and Ultimate offer an open-ended option. |
These services expose different controls, so there is no universally best platform established by their documentation. Choose based on the interface you use, the trigger behavior you need, and how easily you can maintain alerts.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Reduce notification overload without missing the alerts you care about
- Start with decision points. Set only price conditions that would prompt you to reconsider a plan or take another step.
- Pick one primary delivery channel. Add a second only if it serves a distinct purpose rather than duplicating the same interruption.
- Limit repeats. Use an only-once trigger or expiry where the platform offers it. TradingView documents both frequency choices and alert expiration.
- Prune stale alerts. Review active alerts periodically and edit or delete those that no longer match your goal. Kraken exposes active and historical lists; Coinbase provides deletion controls in notification settings.
- Keep security notices distinct. Market-alert preferences are not a substitute for account-security notifications, and Coinbase says some important account or security alerts may still arrive when other notification types are off.
- Check device permissions. Notification settings inside an app may not be enough: Kraken requires browser permission for web notifications and both device-level and in-app permission for mobile push.
Alert controls can reduce unnecessary messages, but they cannot guarantee that every interruption is prevented or that a notification will reach you in time to respond.
