If you want a book-style foldable with a large inner screen, the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the clearest current non-Samsung alternative in the available specifications: Google lists an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. But screen size alone cannot establish which phone handles your apps or multitasking workflow best. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra remains the most fully documented option here for advanced windowing, with three-way split view, adjustable windows, pop-up views, a taskbar and saved app pairs.
Which foldable should you shortlist?
For a large-screen alternative outside Samsung’s lineup, start with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. If your priority is a documented set of multitasking controls rather than switching brands, compare it with Samsung’s Fold8 Ultra. The evidence available for these models is not a hands-on comparison, so it supports a practical shortlist, not a tested ranking or a claim that one phone is faster or better with particular apps.
| Model | Inner display | Cover display | What the cited source establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold | 8 inches; 2076 × 2152 OLED, 1–120 Hz | 6.5 inches | Google’s official hardware specifications; no equivalent multitasking feature inventory is established here. Google specifications |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | 8 inches | 6.5 inches | Samsung’s July 2026 overview gives display size and 215 g weight; Samsung separately documents its multitasking features. Samsung overview |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 | 7.6 inches | 5.5 inches | Samsung’s July 2026 overview lists these display sizes and a 201 g weight. Samsung overview |
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 | 8 inches | 6.5 inches | Samsung’s US comparison page lists these sizes and a typical 4,400 mAh battery. Its stated video-playback time is a manufacturer claim, not an independent measurement. Samsung Fold7 comparison |
The Pixel and Fold8 Ultra match on the listed display diagonals, but that does not prove their usable layouts are identical. A diagonal measurement does not show aspect ratio, app adaptation or how comfortable a particular split-screen arrangement will feel. Google’s cited page supplies resolution and refresh range for the Pixel; the cited Samsung overview does not provide equivalent resolution or aspect-ratio figures for this comparison.
What makes a foldable useful for multitasking?
Look beyond the diagonal measurement
Inner-screen size is a useful first filter, not a verdict. Two displays with the same diagonal can have different proportions, and apps may use the extra space differently. Before choosing, consider the actual combination you want to run—such as a document beside a browser—and whether those apps support the arrangement you need. The cited Pixel specification confirms its panel dimensions and refresh range, but does not establish how individual apps behave in split view.

Check how windows are managed
Samsung says the Fold8 Ultra supports two-way and three-way Multi Window split view, adjustable window sizes, pop-up views, a taskbar and saved app pairs. Samsung describes Multi Window this way: “Multi Window lets you run supported apps side by side on the main screen.” These are Samsung’s descriptions of its own product, not independent test results.
Samsung also describes DeX as a desktop-like workspace when the phone is connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. That option matters if your intended setup extends beyond using the phone’s inner screen, but the cited sources do not provide a comparable Pixel feature inventory. Do not treat the absence of Pixel details here as proof that a feature is absent.

How to choose for your own use
- Write down your everyday app layout. Decide whether you need two apps side by side, three-way split view, pop-up windows or saved combinations. Prioritize the features you will actually use.
- Compare the folded and unfolded screens. The cover display is the screen you use when the phone is closed; its size and proportions affect everyday typing and navigation. Among the listed models, the Fold8’s cover screen is 5.5 inches, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Fold8 Ultra and Fold7 are listed at 6.5 inches.
- Verify app support on the exact model. A phone’s windowing controls cannot guarantee that every app supports the layout or behaves as you expect. Check your essential apps and the manufacturer’s current guidance for the device you plan to buy.
- Check portability and local ownership details. Samsung lists the Fold8 Ultra at 215 g and the Fold8 at 201 g in its July 2026 overview. The cited material does not give a complete, current cross-brand weight and folded-dimensions comparison, so check the exact model’s specifications and, if possible, handle it in person.
- Confirm the local offer before deciding. Stock, price, warranty and repair options depend on country and seller. Samsung’s UK model guide notes that models may vary by country; verify what is sold and supported in your market rather than assuming a model or configuration is universal. Samsung’s model guide
Where the Fold7 fits
The Fold7 is a useful previous-generation Samsung baseline: Samsung’s US comparison page lists an 8-inch main screen, a 6.5-inch cover screen and a typical 4,400 mAh battery. The same page states up to 24 hours of video playback, which is a Samsung claim, not an independently measured result. Compare it with newer options using current local pricing and availability; the cited specifications alone do not establish which is the better value.

The official sources establish named models and selected hardware details, and Samsung’s product guide describes Fold8 Ultra multitasking features. They do not establish independent performance, a market-wide ranking, a head-to-head app-compatibility result, or a full cross-brand comparison of dimensions and software workflows. The most reliable choice therefore depends on matching a phone’s verified features to your app habits and confirming the model sold in your country.
