Sometimes—but “console cheats” can mean different things in Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian says platform achievements are automatically disabled while mods are in use. On PC, the third-party BG3 Script Extender documents an EnableAchievements setting for modded games. Its debug-console window is a separate feature, and the documentation does not say that merely opening that window disables achievements.
What do you mean by “console cheats”?
There is no single achievement rule for every tool or action someone might call a console cheat. The answer depends on whether you are using a mod, the PC Script Extender, or the Script Extender’s diagnostic window.

How mods affect achievements
Larian’s stated baseline is clear: “Achievements are automatically disabled when you’re using mods.” The rule applies to mods, not necessarily to every debugging window or interaction that a player might describe as a cheat. Patch 7 introduced BG3’s in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit, and Larian says players can enable or disable mods there. However, disabling a mod is not risk-free: Larian warns that removing some mods can affect existing saves. Read Larian’s explanation of playing with mods.
What the PC Script Extender does—and does not establish
The BG3 Script Extender is a third-party PC tool. Its configuration documentation includes EnableAchievements, a setting intended to enable achievements for modded games. The project’s FAQ says the extender enables achievements automatically and that the setting defaults to true. Treat this as a tool-specific workaround, not a promise that Larian supports or guarantees achievements in every modded campaign. Check the Script Extender documentation.

The debug window is not the achievement setting
The Script Extender FAQ says Ctrl+F12 opens its console window, and that CreateConsole can make the window persistent. The window logs extender internals; the FAQ describes it separately from EnableAchievements. The documentation does not say that opening this diagnostic window alone disables achievements, but that is not a guarantee about every command, mod, or change made through related tools. Check the game build after updates
Script Extender versions target specific BG3 builds. A version made for one patch may not work with another, so verify that the extender supports your current game build before relying on its configuration. What to check before using a cheat or mod
- Identify the platform and tool. “Console” might mean a PlayStation or Xbox system, the in-game Mod Manager, or the PC Script Extender’s debug window. Those are not interchangeable.
- Check whether a mod is active. If you are using mods, Larian’s stated rule is that platform achievements are automatically disabled. Larian’s mod guidance
- On PC, verify the Script Extender’s current compatibility. Consult its documentation for your game build and the
EnableAchievementssetting. Do not assume the setting applies after a game update or to a different tool. - Do not assume achievements will be restored retroactively. The official guidance and Script Extender documentation do not establish a universal guarantee that every achievement will become eligible after a mod is disabled or a setting is changed.
Can you use the Script Extender workaround on PlayStation or Xbox?
No: the Script Extender configuration instructions concern the PC tool, so they are not a workaround to apply on PlayStation or Xbox.
