Toaplan Arcade Garage is M2’s line of Toaplan game collections released under its ShotTriggers label. Each collection groups particular arcade games and regional variants, with some home-console versions and other games offered separately as add-on content. The best way to compare them is to check which games are in the base edition, which extras require DLC, and which play and practice features are included in that specific release.
What Toaplan Arcade Garage includes
Toaplan Arcade Garage is a series, not one all-in-one game collection. The releases covered here include the Tiger-Heli games, Flying Shark and Fire Shark, and Zero Fire. M2’s official pages establish those as releases but do not establish that the line is complete or closed.
The collection names can be confusing because the same game may have different names across regions. For example, Kyukyoku Tiger is also known as Twin Cobra, while Japanese Hishozame and Same! Same! Same! are associated with the international names Flying Shark and Fire Shark.
Flying Fire Shark: arcade games and add-on content
M2 groups Flying Shark and Fire Shark content in the Flying Fire Shark collection. The base-game list includes Japanese arcade Hishozame and Same! Same! Same!, international arcade Flying Shark and Fire Shark, North American arcade Sky Shark, a two-player arcade version of Same! Same! Same!, and the arcade game Teki-Paki. See M2’s Flying Fire Shark product page for its current content breakdown.

That page puts several other versions in a separate “Console versions + Wardner DLC” grouping: NES Sky Shark; Sega Mega Drive Same! Same! Same!; Genesis Fire Shark; and regional and FDS versions of Wardner. Do not assume these are part of the base game. Check the edition and add-on listing in your local store before buying.

How the versions differ
There is no single “best version” independent of what you want to play. Compare the releases on these points:
- Core games: Kyukyoku TigerHeli is the Tiger-Heli/Twin Cobra collection; Flying Fire Shark focuses on Flying Shark and Fire Shark. Zero Fire is another separately released Toaplan Arcade Garage title.
- Region and variant: Japanese, international, and North American arcade versions can use different names and may differ in gameplay. M2 identifies a Japanese two-player Fire Shark variant with difficulty somewhat toned down.
- Base edition versus DLC: Flying Fire Shark separates console versions and Wardner content from its base-game list. Kyukyoku TigerHeli likewise lists console versions and Get Star/Guardian as DLC. Confirm the exact store package rather than relying on the collection title alone.
- Platform and territory: M2 lists Switch and PS4 versions for the collections discussed here, but store availability, release timing, and compatibility depend on region and platform. Check the listing for your country.
- Play options: Gadgets, difficulty settings, practice tools, rewind, leaderboards, replay downloads, and display options vary by product. Compare the feature list for the specific collection you plan to buy.
M2 cautions that preservation does not guarantee an exact match to every original release: “We tried to keep the included games as close to their original form as possible, but please note that differences may be present in their behavior, expressions, logos or copyright notices etc.” The note appears on M2’s product pages, including those for Flying Fire Shark and Kyukyoku TigerHeli.

Features for new and returning players
M2 and official platform descriptions document Arcade Mode and Super Easy modes, M2 Gadgets that surface information such as offscreen threats or hidden features, and Arcade Challenge practice. Arcade Mode aims to retain the original arcade challenge; Super Easy and practice tools give players ways to learn the games with less friction.
For Flying Fire Shark, M2 describes Arcade Challenge as a way to practice individual stages and bosses with selected difficulty and ship loadouts. Players can rewind after a hit in that training mode; this is not described as a change to the original Arcade Mode. The collection’s documented options also include online leaderboards, replay downloads, screen sizing, wallpapers, and vertical screen rotation. See the Flying Fire Shark features page.

Teki-Paki and bonus distribution
M2 describes Teki-Paki as a 1991 arcade puzzle game and says it is distributed as a bonus with purchases of Toaplan Arcade Garage games, not sold separately. That is the publisher’s stated policy, and it may be updated; check the relevant product listing to see whether the bonus applies to the edition you are considering. Details are on M2’s Teki-Paki page.
