For this comparison, “iPhone vs Xiaomi” means the iPhone 18 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, two current flagship examples—not every phone made by either company. There is not enough direct testing to name an overall camera winner. Xiaomi has more clearly specified long-telephoto hardware; Apple highlights variable aperture, manual controls and its photo-and-video processing features. The better fit depends on what you shoot and how you work with the files.
What the published specifications can—and cannot—tell you
The available product information describes capabilities, not a controlled comparison of the pictures these phones produce. Neither a megapixel count nor a sensor size establishes which camera will give you the color, detail, skin tones, motion handling or consistency you prefer. Apple and Leica’s performance language should be understood as manufacturer or partner claims, not independent test results.
The distinction matters in everyday use: a camera may offer a high-resolution mode or a long telephoto range, but the final result also depends on processing, focus, exposure, movement and the scene. No controlled side-by-side test of these exact models across still photos, low light, portraits, zoom and video is established here.
How their camera systems differ
| Camera detail | iPhone 18 Pro | Xiaomi 17 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Main camera | Apple lists a 48 MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4. Apple announced the phone on September 9, 2026. Apple Newsroom | Leica Camera AG describes a one-inch main sensor. This is a manufacturer specification, not a comparative image-quality result. Leica Camera AG |
| Telephoto and zoom | A corresponding mechanical optical zoom range is not stated in the cited Apple announcement. | Leica describes a 200 MP telephoto lens spanning 75–100 mm with mechanical optical zoom, and a telephoto range up to 400 mm equivalent. These are Leica’s product specifications, not independent performance findings. Leica Camera AG |
| Capture controls and processing | Apple lists manual aperture, shutter-speed and white-balance controls, a histogram, Photographic Styles texture and grain controls, and computational imaging. Apple Developer describes Photonic Engine processing that combines information into a 24 MP image, multi-frame processing, Bayer RAW and ProRAW options, and a capture-mode constraint for 24 MP and 48 MP photos. Apple Developer, WWDC26 | The cited Leica announcement describes the partnership as focusing on lens design, color tuning and focal lengths; it does not establish an equivalent control-by-control comparison with Apple. |
| Video features cited | Apple lists applying Cinematic effects after capture to videos shot at up to 60 fps, and 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse. Apple Newsroom | Leica lists 4K video up to 120 fps with Dolby Vision or ACES Log on the main and telephoto cameras. These are advertised formats and frame-rate capabilities, not comparative video results. Leica Camera AG |
Which one fits your photography?
For long-distance framing: consider Xiaomi 17 Ultra
The most clearly documented hardware difference is Xiaomi’s 75–100 mm mechanical optical telephoto, with Leica describing reach up to 400 mm equivalent. That makes the Xiaomi a logical candidate if distant subjects, tighter framing or switching focal lengths are central to your photography. It does not prove that its zoom images will look better in every situation; compare samples at the specific distances and lighting you care about.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
For aperture control and hands-on adjustment: consider iPhone 18 Pro
Apple lists a variable ƒ/1.48–ƒ/4 aperture on the 48 MP Fusion Main camera, as well as manual aperture, shutter-speed and white-balance controls and a histogram. These are relevant if you want to adjust capture settings rather than rely entirely on automatic decisions. Apple describes ƒ/1.48 as the wide setting for low light and ƒ/4 as providing greater depth of field; that is Apple’s explanation of the feature, not independent proof of better low-light results.
For everyday stills: compare actual samples
Neither the specifications nor the available independent context settle which phone produces more pleasing everyday photos. For people, pets, indoor scenes or moving subjects, compare matched photos for exposure, focus, skin tones, color, detail and motion blur—not just the resolution label. Also check whether results remain consistent when switching between lenses.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Low light: the scene and subject matter
The iPhone’s variable aperture and Xiaomi’s one-inch main sensor are relevant features to investigate, but the cited material does not establish a low-light winner. A useful comparison should include both static scenes and moving subjects: a bright, sharp building at night does not show how well a phone freezes a moving person in dim light.
When evaluating examples, look for noise, detail retention, highlight handling, color and focus. Use the same scene and similar framing, and note whether each phone is using its main camera or another lens. Manufacturer descriptions of low-light capability are not substitutes for those matched results.

Video: advertised modes are not the whole experience
The listed formats point to different capabilities, but they do not answer practical questions such as which phone keeps focus on a moving subject, stabilizes walking footage, handles changing light or switches lenses smoothly. Apple lists post-capture Cinematic effects for video shot at up to 60 fps and 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse. Leica lists Xiaomi 17 Ultra recording up to 4K at 120 fps with Dolby Vision or ACES Log on its main and telephoto cameras.
Limited independent context should not be mistaken for the requested head-to-head: TechRadar’s 2026 flagship roundup reports cases in which Xiaomi 17 Ultra video is less adept than iPhone 17 Pro for lens switching, frame rates and codecs. That comparison concerns iPhone 17 Pro, not iPhone 18 Pro, so it cannot resolve which of these two current models is better for video. TechRadar’s 2026 flagship roundup

For Xiaomi, Leica describes the partnership’s focus on lens design, color tuning and focal lengths. Xiaomi also offers a Photography Kit and Photography Kit Pro: Leica says both add a two-stage shutter release and a separate video button, while the Pro kit integrates a 2000 mAh battery. Check regional availability and exact phone compatibility before buying an accessory. Leica Camera AG
Workflow fit also includes where you edit and share, which file formats you use, and whether the phone integrates smoothly with your other devices. Check the exact models, software, local availability and prices in your country before deciding; those factors can vary by market.
Quick Recap
A practical way to choose
- Start with your common subjects. If you often photograph distant subjects, investigate Xiaomi’s specified telephoto range. If you want hands-on aperture, shutter-speed and white-balance controls, compare Apple’s listed controls with your needs.
- Decide whether stills or video matter more. For video, compare real footage for stabilization, focus, exposure changes and lens switching rather than choosing by frame-rate or format claims alone.
- Compare matched examples. Use the same scene, similar framing and lighting, and separate comparisons for stills, low light, portraits, motion and video. Check the software versions and which camera each example used.
- Account for your workflow and market. Confirm local availability, price, software support, file handling and any accessory compatibility before choosing.
