The most dependable way to move supported data from Android to a new iPhone is Apple’s Move to iOS process during initial iPhone setup. It can transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, files and more, but it does not move everything automatically: Apple says music, books and PDFs must be moved manually. Check storage, keep both phones powered and nearby, and verify important items after setup rather than treating the transfer as a guarantee.
What moves automatically—and what does not
Apple’s Move from Android to iPhone or iPad guide lists these supported categories for Move to iOS:
- Contacts, message history and SMS
- Camera photos and videos, plus photo albums
- Files and folders
- Accessibility and display settings
- Web bookmarks and mail accounts
- WhatsApp messages and media
- Voice Memos, call history and calendars
Some free apps may be matched if they are available in both Google Play and the App Store and support the transfer feature. Any apps that do not appear can be downloaded from the App Store separately. Apple’s guidance is explicit: “Music, books, and PDFs need to be moved over manually.”
Transfer selection matters: only the categories you choose are included. Before you start, account for the Android phone’s full data load, including files on an external microSD card, and compare it with the iPhone’s available storage. If the transfer does not finish, the iPhone may appear full or run out of space; Apple’s remedy is to erase it and start again after checking capacity.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Choose a transfer route
| Route | Android support | Pairing | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Move to iOS app | Apple documents this as its standard Android migration route; follow the app and device prompts. | One-time code and a temporary Wi-Fi network created by the iPhone. | Runs during initial iPhone setup. Apple also supports an optional direct USB-C connection, which it says can be faster. |
| Transfer without the app | Compatible Android 17 devices; support depends on the Android device. | Scan a QR code during iPhone setup. | Available data categories and eSIM transfer depend on the devices. Check support with the Android manufacturer. |
The app route is the broadly documented choice. The newer app-free flow is conditional, not a universal Android option. A direct USB-C connection is an alternative connection for Move to iOS, not a separate migration product. Check the ports on both phones before choosing a cable; the ends must fit both devices. Wireless transfer remains available.
Move data with Move to iOS
1. Prepare both phones
- Turn on Wi-Fi on Android and connect both phones to power.
- Check that the data you plan to transfer fits in the iPhone’s available storage.
- If Chrome bookmarks matter, update Chrome on Android before beginning.
- If you plan to connect by cable, confirm that the cable fits both phones.
2. Start iPhone setup
- Turn on the new iPhone and follow its setup prompts.
- At Transfer Your Apps & Data, choose From Android, then choose Transfer with App.
Move to iOS must be used during initial setup. If the iPhone has already been set up, you can erase it to return to that flow or move content manually instead.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
3. Pair the phones
- On Android, open Move to iOS and accept the prompts.
- Enter the one-time code shown on the iPhone.
- When prompted, join the temporary Wi-Fi network created by the iPhone.
4. Select content and wait for completion
- Choose the data categories to transfer and tap Continue.
- Keep Move to iOS open on Android. Leave both phones close together and connected to power until the progress bar on the iPhone finishes.
Even if Android reports that it has finished, wait for the iPhone’s loading bar to complete. The duration depends on how much data you selected. Switching apps or taking a call on Android before the transfer completes can interrupt it.
5. Finish setup and check key items
Complete iPhone setup, then check the information you most need, such as contacts, message history, photos and calendars. Download unmatched apps from the App Store and move music, books and PDFs manually. Check with your carrier if your number or SIM/eSIM still needs activation.

Activate your phone number and SIM or eSIM
You may be able to activate your number and SIM or eSIM as part of the move, but this is not guaranteed for every phone or carrier. Apple says some users need to complete activation on the carrier’s website. Availability depends on device and carrier compatibility, so confirm the process with your carrier rather than assuming an eSIM will transfer automatically.
Fix a stalled or incomplete transfer
If Move to iOS stalls or does not progress, Apple recommends these checks:

- Leave Move to iOS open on Android and avoid switching to another app.
- Turn off Android settings or apps that can affect Wi-Fi, and forget known Wi-Fi networks before retrying.
- Turn off Android cellular data, then restart both phones and try again.
- If using a cable, check the Android phone’s USB settings; some phones may need an adjustment.
If you finish iPhone setup without completing the move, Apple’s transfer and reset guidance describes resetting the iPhone, returning to initial setup, choosing From Android and generating a new code. Resetting erases the iPhone’s current contents: back up anything you want to keep before proceeding. Apple also documents restore paths using a Mac or PC.

If you do not want to erase an already configured iPhone, move the content manually where possible. Apple lists music, books and PDFs as manual-transfer items in any case. If you need Move to iOS for its supported categories, returning to the migration flow requires erasing the iPhone; use Apple’s reset guidance above and protect current iPhone data with a backup first.
