Start by checking your tablet’s software, then try DeX and Second screen from Quick settings. After that, tailor display and power choices to your comfort and workload: there is no setting here that guarantees a specific battery-life improvement.
Check which software version your tablet offers
Open the tablet’s Settings app and look for Software update to check for available updates. Menu names and locations can change across software versions, so use the manual that matches your installed software and region—or search for a setting directly in Settings if the path differs.
Samsung UK lists an English Android 16 manual, version 1.0, dated April 28, 2026, on its Galaxy Tab S10 FE product page. That is a documentation listing for the UK page, not a promise that Android 16 is available on every Tab S10 FE or in every market.
Use Quick settings to launch DeX and Second screen
Samsung’s documented gesture for both features is to swipe down from the top right of the screen with two fingers. This opens Quick settings; tap the relevant tile to start the feature. Tile availability or labels may depend on the installed software.

- DeX: Tap DeX in Quick settings to switch to the tablet’s desktop-like interface. DeX also has a section in the Settings app while the tablet is in DeX mode.
- Second screen: Tap Second screen to prepare the tablet to act as a display for a Windows PC.

Set up DeX for the way you work
DeX presents a desktop-like interface on the tablet itself. Choose the input method that suits the task; an external keyboard or mouse is optional, not a requirement.

- Touchscreen or S Pen: Convenient if you already work directly on the tablet or want to annotate and draw.
- USB or Bluetooth mouse and keyboard: Useful for longer typing sessions or pointer-based work.
- Keyboard cover: An optional way to add a keyboard and, depending on the cover, a trackpad. Check compatibility for your exact model and region before buying.
One important limit: Samsung Support states, “The Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ are not compatible with Wireless DeX or HDMI output.” DeX on this model is not a way to send the tablet’s screen to an external monitor over HDMI.
Use the tablet as a Windows PC’s second display
Second screen works in the other direction: it lets the Windows PC’s display appear on the tablet. It is distinct from outputting the tablet’s own screen to an HDMI monitor, which these FE models do not support.

- On the tablet, swipe down from the top right with two fingers to open Quick settings, then tap Second screen.
- On the Windows PC, press Windows + K and select the tablet from the available devices.
- Once connected, use Windows display settings to choose whether to extend or duplicate the desktop and adjust display arrangement, scaling, or resolution.
Pick Extend when you want extra desktop space for another window; choose Duplicate when you want the same content on both screens. The PC’s display settings control those choices.
Personalize display and battery choices
Use the options exposed in your installed Settings menu, rather than relying on a universal menu path: Samsung’s cited support guidance does not establish exact paths for display or battery settings across software versions. If your tablet offers brightness, refresh or eye-comfort options, choose them for readability and comfort. Likewise, set power behavior around how you use the tablet, not an assumed savings figure.

Samsung cautions that battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors. The available product information does not establish a particular display or battery setting as a guaranteed performance upgrade, so treat these adjustments as personal trade-offs.

- Keep the Quick settings tiles you use most easy to reach, if your software lets you arrange them.
- If you use DeX, choose whether touch, S Pen, a mouse and keyboard, or a keyboard cover best fits your work.
- If you need a Windows companion display, try Second screen and select Extend or Duplicate in Windows display settings.
- After a normal day of use, revisit display and power choices based on your comfort and priorities.
