There is no universally best order for changing Galaxy S26 Ultra settings. Start by reviewing Privacy display for situations when you want to limit side-angle viewing, then tailor the camera settings to the way you take photos and videos. These are choices to consider—not toggles everyone should enable.
Review Privacy display for sensitive situations
Samsung says Privacy display controls the screen’s viewing angle to limit peripheral visibility. You can turn it on from the Quick Panel by touching and holding Privacy display, or go to Settings > Display > Privacy Display. Use the labels shown on your phone, since menus and behavior can vary by model, software, and app version. Samsung’s US instructions describe the controls and tradeoffs.
If you do not want the effect on all the time, consider setting Privacy display to activate for selected supported apps, credential screens, or notification pop-ups. Samsung Singapore says credential-screen activation covers Samsung or Google settings, but not PIN or password screens inside third-party apps. Samsung Singapore’s guidance explains these conditions.
Maximum privacy protection narrows the viewing angle further, but also dims the screen. Samsung warns that outdoor visibility may be reduced and that colors, sharpness, or blur can change. Viewing angle and brightness can also affect what remains visible, so Privacy display is not a guarantee against shoulder surfing. Samsung advises that a third-party privacy screen protector may reduce brightness; that is Samsung’s recommendation, not an independent accessory comparison.

Choose camera settings for your habits
Open Camera > Quick controls > Settings and review the options that affect how you frame, capture, and save images. Samsung’s camera-settings guidance covers the choices below; availability and labels may vary with software. See Samsung’s camera settings instructions.
- Composition guide: Turn on the viewfinder grid or level if you use guides to frame photos or video.
- Tracking autofocus: Consider it when you want the camera to keep a moving subject in focus.
- Location tags: Choose whether photos and videos should include GPS location information. Leave them off if you do not want that location metadata saved.
- Save selfies as preview: Decide whether saved selfies should match the preview rather than being flipped.
- Settings to keep: Choose whether modes, selfie angle, and filters should persist when you reopen the camera. Persistence can save steps, while resetting may suit people who prefer a fresh start each time.
- Scanning and shot suggestions: Enable document detection or framing prompts only if you find those automatic suggestions useful.
- Photo enhancer and Scene optimizer: Samsung describes options that can prioritize quality or speed and automatically adjust detected scene properties. Choose based on whether you prefer automatic adjustments or a different capture workflow.
- Save extra storage: Samsung says video can be recorded directly to USB storage. Consider this if you have compatible USB storage and want recordings stored off the phone; Samsung’s cited guidance does not establish accessory compatibility for every device.
Account for software and regional differences
Samsung Singapore lists an Android 16 User Manual, version 1.0, dated February 27, 2026. Samsung Electronics’ 2026 first-quarter interim report identifies Android 16 and One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S26 platform. Later releases or regional variants may change settings names or behavior, so check the current on-device menu rather than relying on an older path.
