Neither retailer is always cheaper or easier: seller, destination, membership eligibility, and product exceptions can change the result.
Compare the same offer, not just the same product name
Before comparing prices, confirm that each listing is for the same model or part number, quantity, condition, and included accessories. Then compare like seller arrangements: for example, an item sold and shipped by Walmart against one sold by Amazon, or two marketplace listings. A retailer’s policy may not apply in the same way to a third-party seller.
Use this checklist for each offer:
- Exact model, condition, quantity, and included items
- Seller and who fulfills or ships the order
- Displayed item price and any shipping, delivery, or minimum-order fee
- Arrival estimate for your delivery address
- Membership eligibility and any membership cost relevant to your purchase
- Return-by date, permitted method, and any return postage or fee
Record the prices and estimates you see at the time of comparison. They are a snapshot: price, stock, eligibility, and delivery dates can change.
Compare the checkout total, not the product-page price
Add the item price, shipping or delivery charges, applicable minimum-order fees, and taxes shown at checkout. If a membership is needed for a benefit, include its cost when it is relevant to your decision; do not treat a benefit as free if you would need to pay for a membership to use it. If you already have a membership, note that separately rather than assigning its full cost to one item without context.

Walmart’s corporate Price Match Policy says Walmart.com does not match competitor prices, including an Amazon listing. It also excludes certain other price comparisons, such as prior Walmart.com prices and Marketplace or third-party seller prices. Treat Walmart and Amazon listings as separate offers and compare their checkout totals instead of expecting Walmart.com to match the Amazon price (Walmart corporate Price Match Policy).
There is no basis here for declaring one retailer consistently cheaper. The useful answer is the lower comparable total for the specific item, seller, destination, and time you are shopping.

Check what “free shipping” or fast delivery actually covers
Delivery benefits depend on the listing and your address. Check the item page and checkout estimate, and note whether the order is shipped to your home, delivered from a local store, or fulfilled by a marketplace seller. These are different fulfillment routes, even when the listing advertises free delivery.
Walmart and Walmart+
Walmart says Walmart+ members receive free shipping with no order minimum on eligible items sold by Walmart or shipped by Walmart through Walmart.com or the Walmart app. The benefit has exclusions, including some Marketplace, freight, oversized, and international items. Local-store delivery has a separate rule: Walmart’s benefits page states a $35 order minimum for the delivery fee waiver and lists a $6.99 minimum-order fee below that threshold. Express delivery may cost extra. Check the exact listing and checkout rather than assuming every Walmart delivery uses the same terms (Walmart+ shipping and delivery benefits).

- Allow user to add custom units to suit their own needs (eg. rolls, boxes, sheets, etc.)
- Support for bulk purchase comparisons (eg. Costco multiple items packaged together for sale)
- View Price History for any of your Items
- Add and Maintain Items for future price comparison, Categorize Items
Amazon and Prime
Amazon lists free One-Day and Two-Day Delivery, Same-Day Delivery for qualifying orders that meet a minimum, Amazon Day, No-Rush Shipping, and standard four-to-five-business-day delivery for eligible Prime items. The available speed depends on the product, seller or fulfillment, address, and checkout; cutoff times and availability vary. Amazon advises customers to check the item’s page and checkout for current delivery information (Amazon Prime Delivery Benefits).
Do not compare a shipping benefit with a local-store delivery option as if they were identical. Check the actual route, eligibility, fee, and arrival estimate for each offer. Membership prices are not included here; verify current cost if you would subscribe primarily for this purchase.

Compare the return terms for the exact item
Headline return windows are not guarantees for every product. Review the return-by date shown for the item, required condition, available return methods, and whether you would pay postage or another fee. Marketplace listings may have seller-specific terms, and large or restricted items can have different options.
Walmart returns
Walmart’s U.S. corporate Return Policy, marked updated August 17, 2026, says most items may be returned within 90 days after purchase or receipt. Its exceptions include two days for major appliances, 14 days for most wireless phones and Marketplace collectible or luxury items, and 30 days for most consumer electronics and Marketplace items; some categories have longer periods. Marketplace items can have different policies and exceptions. Walmart lists store, curbside, mail, and home return routes, but the available route varies by item. Check the listing and return details rather than relying on the 90-day headline (Walmart corporate U.S. Return Policy; Walmart Free Returns).

Amazon returns
Amazon says most items can be returned for a refund or replacement within 30 days of delivery if they are in original or unused condition, subject to category exceptions. Most items have at least one free return option, but a non-free method, heavy or bulky item, unusually high return rate, damage or condition issue, or an overdue return can lead to fees. Inspect the product detail page before ordering and Order History after purchase to see the applicable deadline and options (Amazon Return Policy).

Fill in one row per retailer using the same destination and comparison time. If you are comparing marketplace offers, record the specific seller; a retailer name alone is not enough to identify who is responsible for fulfillment or return terms.

Choose based on total cost and practical returnability
If one offer has a lower checkout total and an acceptable arrival date and return route, it may be the better fit for your purchase. If totals are close, weigh the exact return deadline, available drop-off or pickup options, and whether a marketplace seller is involved. A longer headline return window does not automatically mean a return is simpler or free.
Before placing the order, confirm the seller, fulfillment, destination-specific delivery estimate, membership eligibility, item-specific return-by date, condition requirements, and return method in the live listing or checkout. Keep the packaging and order details until the return window has passed.
