How to tell whether your balloon pump is recalled
- Check the model number. Look for model number 406198 on the silver rating label on the bottom of the pump or on its packaging.
- Compare the appearance. The recalled pump is pink plastic with a blue handle and two nozzles. It is a high-pressure pump with continuous and touch-on modes.
The recall covers about 360,500 pumps, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notice published October 1, 2026. Appearance can help you identify the product, but use the model number to confirm the match.
What to do if you have model 406198
Stop using the pump immediately. Overheating can cause burns. Dollar Tree reported three overheating incidents to the CPSC, including one report of flames inside a pump and one report that a unit exploded. No injuries had been reported in the CPSC notice.
How to get the full refund
If you bought it in a store
Return the pump to any Dollar Tree store for a full refund. The recalled pumps were sold at Dollar Tree stores nationwide and online at dollartree.com and doordash.com between August 2025 and July 2026 for about $17, according to the CPSC notice.

If you bought it online
Contact Dollar Tree and request a prepaid shipping label. Return the pump using that label to receive a full refund. The CPSC notice does not specify whether proof of purchase is required; ask Dollar Tree if you do not have it or need help with the return.

Check the CPSC’s recall notice and Dollar Tree’s recall information before returning the pump. The CPSC says recall notices are updated weekly and remedy information may change daily; its recall index carries that currency note.
