Parts cover technology upgrades through tier 2; Tokens are required beyond tier 2. Because the game’s progression economy was rebalanced in 2026, check each upgrade’s current in-game cost before spending resources.
Know what each upgrade resource does
| Resource | How it is used | Sources listed by the Help Center |
|---|---|---|
| Parts | Plane-specific; used with Silver for technology upgrades through tier 2. | Battle crates, events, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the store. |
| Tokens | Shared across planes; needed for technology upgrades beyond tier 2. | Battles, events, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the store. |
| Silver | Base currency used alongside Parts to upgrade unlocked planes. | Battles, battle crates, events, Wheel of Fortune, and the store. |
| Blueprints | Plane-specific; used to unlock planes in tiers you have reached. Blueprints for a plane you already own convert into that plane’s Parts. | Blue battle crates, event rewards, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the store. |
| Gold | Premium currency used primarily for time-restricted activities, Wheel of Fortune spins, and store currencies or offers. The Help Center does not describe it as a required technology-upgrade resource. | The Help Center describes its uses but does not specify acquisition sources in the cited resource overview. |
These uses and sources are described in the Wings of Heroes Help Center currency guide. Sources indicate where a resource may be available, not how much you can expect to receive or how quickly you can earn it.
How to allocate resources efficiently
1. Focus Parts on aircraft you plan to fly
Parts are tied to individual planes, so Parts assigned to one aircraft cannot be used to upgrade another. As a planning principle, concentrate your upgrade effort on planes you expect to use rather than trying to advance every aircraft at once. This is an inference from the resource rules, not a developer-published optimal build.
2. Understand how Parts distribution works
The Help Center identifies three distribution types: Random Parts are spread across owned planes; Highest Tier rewards prioritize planes in your highest unlocked tier; and Premium Parts go to owned planes that are not fully upgraded. These describe how rewards are distributed; they do not guarantee a specific drop or let you direct every reward to a chosen plane.

3. Keep Tokens for the tier-2 transition
Parts cover technology upgrades through tier 2, while Tokens are needed beyond tier 2. Because Tokens are shared among your planes, decide which aircraft’s higher-tier technologies matter most to your progression before spending them. This is a prioritization approach based on the shared-resource rule, not a universal upgrade order.
4. Budget Silver as well as Parts
The Help Center says Silver is used alongside Parts for upgrades. Check that you have enough of both before planning an upgrade; collecting Parts alone does not meet the stated resource requirement.

5. Verify costs in the game before committing
Ten Square Games reported changes to unlock costs and upgrade pacing as part of its 2026 progression update. Treat older cost guides as potentially outdated, and use the current requirement shown in the game when deciding how to spend your resources.
Where to get upgrade resources
The official currency guide lists battles, battle crates, events, Wheel of Fortune, Battle Pass, and the in-game store as resource sources, with availability differing by resource. For example, the listed sources for Tokens include battles, while the listed sources for Blueprints include blue battle crates. The guide does not compare drop rates, expected quantities, time required, or returns, so it does not establish a fastest farming route.

What changed in progression in 2026
Ten Square Games’ July 7, 2026 update introduced four aircraft rarity classes—Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary—and changes to blueprint distribution, unlock costs, and upgrade pacing. The developer said Common aircraft would be easier to unlock, with rarer aircraft more clearly differentiated within each tier. These are the developer’s descriptions of the update and its intent, not independent proof that upgrades are faster or more rewarding for every player. See the Ten Square Games progression update.

The official sources do not provide per-plane upgrade cost tables, comparative performance data for builds, a tested technology priority list, or a resource-farming comparison. There is therefore no evidence-based universal best plane or fixed upgrade sequence to recommend. Choose a plane based on the aircraft you want to use, then judge individual technologies and costs using the information currently shown in your game.
