Commit skill points to the melee route, and add health and defensive skills as tougher fights require them. This is third-party guide advice, not an official ranking or a tested damage comparison.
Which skills should you take first?
Pocket Gamer’s guide, updated October 5, 2026 for version 1.4.18, recommends taking Divine Immunity and Onrush early. It describes Divine Immunity as increasing defense by 10%, including defense gained from items; that effect is the guide’s description, not an independently verified game-data figure. The guide says Onrush lets attacks charge while you search for the next opponent, potentially reducing downtime between fights. Read Pocket Gamer’s melee build guide.
Move toward critical-strike rate
After those early priorities, the guide directs players toward critical-strike rate through Crit Master. Its full skill-tree route is shown in images, so the written guide does not establish a complete node-by-node sequence. Use the guide’s tree as a visual reference rather than assuming an exact path from a text summary.
Balance melee damage with survival
Critical rate and critical multiplier are the offensive core described by FinalBoss’s separate endgame build guide. It recommends clustering adjacent melee-critical nodes, then investing in hit points, armor, regeneration, and protection when boss fights make survival the limiting factor. These are guide recommendations, not results from a controlled comparison. See FinalBoss’s endgame build guide.

Avoid spreading points between melee and ranged trees if your goal is a focused melee build: the two guides treat them as distinct routes rather than interchangeable options. Melee also puts you close enough that defense is part of the build, not an afterthought. FinalBoss advises watching enemy attack tells and using block or dodge windows instead of trading hits. Pocket Gamer reports that a developer reworked blocking and that this made melee more potent, but that change is not independently confirmed here by official patch notes.
How the build develops into the late game
Pocket Gamer frames this as a late-game progression, showing an earlier checkpoint around level 65 and a final tree at roughly level 188. Those are reference points from the guide, not required level gates or a guarantee that every player should follow identical allocations. Hero Tale is an idle RPG with melee, ranged, and magic weapons, skills to level, and equipment to upgrade, according to its Steam listing.
