SDxCentral reported on October 2, 2026, that Lumen Technologies hired Kim Keever as its chief security officer. Keever was previously chief information security officer at Cox Communications. Lumen’s own pages reviewed for this story did not include an appointment announcement, so the hiring and career details below are attributed to SDxCentral.
Who is Lumen’s new chief security officer?
Kim Keever is a cybersecurity executive who, according to SDxCentral, joined Lumen after serving as Cox Communications’ chief information security officer. The trade publication reported the appointment on October 2, 2026. It also said Keever had a short stint as a cybersecurity leader at Charter-owned Spectrum.
SDxCentral reported that Keever spent well over a decade at Cox and helped build the company’s cyber risk management program. Her responsibilities there included network security, threat intelligence, identity management, and resilience across operational technologies and devices, third parties, and customers.
Before Cox, Keever held several security roles at The Coca-Cola Company, including work on enterprise security controls and governance and a CISO position for its Bottling Investments Group. These career details are reported by SDxCentral; no independent official biography was identified.

What do public records show about Keever’s advisory work?
CISA-hosted documents provide historical evidence of Keever’s participation in the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC). A November 14, 2024 meeting summary lists her as an NSTAC member, and a separate 2024 draft report lists her as a Cox Communications subcommittee co-chair. The records establish those roles at the time of the documents, not that she remains an NSTAC member in October 2026. CISA’s NSTAC materials
