Choose based on the phone you use: Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the more natural match for Android and Google services, while AirPods Pro 2 make the most sense for people using an iPhone and other Apple devices. Both offer active noise cancellation, adaptive listening features and multiple ear-tip sizes. The published battery figures are manufacturer estimates from different test conditions, not a direct comparison, and there is no established universal winner for sound, noise cancellation or comfort.

Which is better for Android or iPhone?
Pixel Buds Pro 2 for Android and Google services
Google says the Pixel Buds Pro 2 can pair with Bluetooth 4.0 or later devices, including iOS phones, tablets and laptops. Pairing is not the same as getting every feature: Google says full feature access requires a Google Account, an internet connection and an Assistant-enabled companion phone running Android 6.0 or later. Check Google’s product information for the requirements that apply to the features you plan to use.
AirPods Pro 2 for Apple devices
Apple’s specifications describe features designed for its devices, including personalized spatial audio and hearing-related capabilities. If one of those features is a deciding factor, check Apple’s device and operating-system requirements for that specific feature; the product listing alone does not establish that every feature works with every Apple device.

- Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are designed to be the most comfortable earbuds yet, with a twist-to-adjust fit; they’re built for Gemini, with the Tensor chip that powers premium, immersive sound and cancels twice as much noise as before[1]
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 are made to stay put; use the twist-to-adjust stabilizer to lock your earbuds in during workouts, or adjust the other way for all-day comfort

If you want to use either pair outside its home ecosystem
Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Bluetooth pairing with iOS and other compatible devices, but Google’s stated Android requirements still apply to full feature access. For AirPods Pro 2, consult Apple’s specifications for the features you care about and the compatible hardware and software. In either case, do not assume basic Bluetooth audio means every companion feature is available.
How long does the battery last with ANC?
Google estimates up to 8 hours per earbud and 30 hours total with the charging case when ANC is on. With ANC off, Google estimates up to 12 hours per earbud and 48 hours total. These are Google’s figures on its comparison page.

There is no reliable way to name a comfort winner from the published design details alone: ear shape and fit vary from person to person, and one ear may differ from the other.
Rank #4
- Google Pixel Buds 2a deliver lightweight comfort, crisp audio, Active Noise Cancellation, and a dependable battery, all for less[1]
- Hear only what you want to hear; Google Tensor A1 powers Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5 to help block external noise; or switch to Transparency mode to hear the world around you while you listen

Google includes four tip sizes and a twist-to-adjust stabilizer. It says it analyzed 45 million ear-scan data points while developing the shape, and describes the Pixel Buds Pro 2 as 27% smaller and 24% lighter than the previous Pixel Buds Pro. Those are Google’s design claims, not a guarantee of comfort for every buyer. Google recommends trying different tip sizes for each ear.
Apple lists four silicone tip sizes for AirPods Pro 2. Whichever model you choose, try the available sizes and check the retailer’s return policy before buying; the number of included options cannot predict your individual seal or comfort.
Does the AirPods Pro 2 case version matter?
Yes. Apple publishes separate specifications for AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C and the earlier Lightning case. The USB-C version is listed as IP54 for both earbuds and case, and supports USB-C and MagSafe charging. The Lightning version is listed as IPX4 for earbuds and case. These ratings and charging details should not be transferred from one case version to the other; compare the exact version you are buying using Apple’s USB-C and Lightning specifications.
Which earbuds should you buy?
- Choose Pixel Buds Pro 2 if you use Android, especially if Google feature access and the listed Google listening features matter to you.
- Choose AirPods Pro 2 if you use an iPhone and want Apple’s ecosystem features, including its listed controls and hearing-related capabilities.
- Compare before choosing either if your main priority is the best ANC, sound, calls or comfort. The specifications cited here do not establish a controlled head-to-head winner in those areas.
Before checkout, verify current regional availability and feature requirements, the AirPods case version, the fit options and the current price. The available specifications support an ecosystem-based recommendation, not a universal verdict on performance.
