Start by fully quitting Logi Options+ and its background agent, confirming the mouse is on and paired to the selected Easy-Switch channel, then checking OpenLogi’s Home gallery or running openlogi list. If it remains absent, test another connection route and check your operating system’s access requirements.
First, identify what “not detected” means
Check whether the mouse moves the pointer in the operating system, whether it appears in OpenLogi’s device gallery, and whether you are using its wireless receiver, Bluetooth, or USB. Pointer movement without an OpenLogi listing suggests an enumeration, HID++ access, permission, or application-state issue; it does not establish which one is affecting your computer.
Open a terminal and run openlogi list to see connected devices and receiver slots. If the mouse appears but a control or feature is missing, use openlogi diag features and openlogi diag controls to inspect what the device reports. OpenLogi’s supported-device documentation says its feature panels depend on reported device capabilities, and the feature table is authoritative: OpenLogi supported devices.
1. Release access to the receiver
Fully quit Logi Options+, including its background agent, before testing OpenLogi. The two applications compete for HID++ access, and only one can own a receiver at a time. On Linux, quit Solaar as well. Reopen OpenLogi, check its Home gallery, and run openlogi list again.

2. Confirm power, channel, and pairing
- Turn on the MX Master 4 and check the LED for the selected Easy-Switch channel. Logitech says it should blink rapidly when the mouse is discoverable.
- If it is not blinking rapidly, hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds. A short press changes channels; the three-second hold makes the selected channel discoverable.
- Pair that channel through your computer’s Bluetooth settings, or connect the included USB receiver and select the channel paired with it.
Logitech says the MX Master 4 can pair with up to three computers. Its setup instructions cover receiver and direct Bluetooth pairing: Logitech MX Master 4 setup.

3. Test the connection route
OpenLogi documents receiver, Bluetooth-direct, and wired USB connections. Try another route if the current one does not enumerate; a working pointer connection is not proof that OpenLogi can access the device.

See OpenLogi’s recognized-device and receiver information and connection instructions. Receiver discovery and enumeration do not mean every receiver type can perform new pairings through OpenLogi; follow the instructions for the specific receiver instead of assuming pairing support.

4. Check operating-system access and the OpenLogi agent
macOS
OpenLogi requires macOS 13 or later. Grant Input Monitoring to OpenLogi Agent so it can open devices. Grant Accessibility to that agent for button remapping. These permissions belong to the agent, not just the graphical app; the packaged app runs its embedded agent as a login item.
Linux
Check that OpenLogi’s udev rules give your user access to /dev/hidraw* for HID++, /dev/uinput, and the mouse’s input event node. Install the package as your normal user rather than running the entire installer with sudo. If the receiver was already connected when the rules were installed, unplug and reconnect it; you can also power-cycle the mouse so the rules apply.

Windows
Check that OpenLogi’s background agent is present and running. For a portable ZIP build, keep the GUI and agent files together. The reviewed OpenLogi installation documentation does not specify a separate Windows permissions checklist for this detection problem.

5. Use diagnostics or prepare a useful report
If OpenLogi lists the mouse but a control panel or feature does not work, run openlogi diag features and openlogi diag controls. Compare the reported capabilities with the controls available in the app; a feature panel may be absent when the device does not report that capability.
If it still does not appear, collect these details before contacting OpenLogi maintainers:
- Operating system and version, plus OpenLogi version.
- Connection route and receiver model or USB ID, if applicable.
- Whether the operating system sees the mouse or it moves the pointer.
- The output of
openlogi listand any relevant diagnostic output.
OpenLogi describes itself as under active development and not yet stable, so behavior and documentation may change. The project’s introduction identifies published release v0.8.11 as its documentation baseline and says the documentation was last updated October 3, 2026: OpenLogi documentation. The reviewed guidance does not establish a universal reinstall, firmware-update, or factory-reset procedure for this specific detection issue. Logitech directs MX Master 4 users to Logi Options+ for its full software features and says its older Firmware Update Tool is no longer maintained: Logitech support.
