Choose the iPhone Air if you prefer iOS, want the thinner stated body and value Apple’s 18 MP Center Stage front camera. Choose the Galaxy S25 Edge if you want a larger screen, a dedicated ultrawide rear camera or Samsung’s Android features. The Air is 0.2 mm thinner by manufacturer measurements; the Edge is 2 g lighter. Neither battery life nor photo quality can be ranked fairly from the available non-matched evidence.

Specifications and available configurations can differ by region. The quoted dimensions are manufacturer body figures; the sources do not establish a matched maximum-thickness measurement that accounts for camera protrusions. Which phone is thinner and easier to carry?
Apple lists the iPhone Air at 5.6 mm thick and 165 g; Samsung lists the Galaxy S25 Edge at 5.8 mm and 163 g. On those stated body figures, the Air is 0.2 mm thinner and the Edge is 2 g lighter. That is a trade-off, not a universal portability winner: grip, balance and the feel of the camera bump were not independently tested here.
Both announcements describe titanium frames. Apple also specifies Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield protection on the back; Samsung describes Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the display. These are manufacturers’ material and durability claims, not results from comparative drop testing.

Which display fits your needs?
The Edge has the larger listed display diagonal at 6.7 inches, compared with the Air’s 6.5 inches. Both offer refresh rates up to 120 Hz, which can make scrolling and supported animations look smoother than on a standard 60 Hz screen.
Apple specifies a Super Retina XDR OLED with adaptive ProMotion and an Always-On display, and lists up to 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness. Samsung’s cited materials describe an AMOLED display with 120 Hz capability. Those brightness figures are not from a matched test across both phones, so they do not establish which screen is brighter in the same conditions.
How do their cameras differ?
iPhone Air: one rear camera, feature-rich front camera
The Air has a single 48 MP Fusion rear camera. Its 18 MP Center Stage front camera supports portrait and landscape framing while the phone stays vertical, according to Apple. That front-camera setup may suit people who often take selfies or make video calls and want flexible framing without rotating the phone.

Galaxy S25 Edge: more rear-camera perspectives
The Edge pairs a 200 MP main rear camera with a 12 MP autofocus ultrawide. Samsung says the ultrawide supports macro photography, and describes optical-quality 2x zoom enabled by its adaptive-pixel sensor and digital zoom up to 10x. The separate ultrawide gives the Edge a dedicated wider perspective the Air’s listed rear-camera system does not provide.

These specifications describe hardware and manufacturer features, not comparative image quality. Megapixel counts alone cannot show which phone takes better photos; that requires matched samples across lighting, zoom and camera modes.
How long does the battery last?
Apple rates the iPhone Air for up to 27 hours of video playback or 22 hours of streamed video playback. With Apple’s separate MagSafe Battery accessory, the stated estimates rise to up to 40 hours and 35 hours, respectively. These are Apple playback estimates, not an independent endurance test.

Tom’s Guide reported 12 hours 24 minutes for the Galaxy S25 Edge in its continuous web-surfing test. The publication had not completed an Air battery test in that comparison. Video playback estimates and a web-surfing test use different methods, so they cannot establish a head-to-head battery winner.
Apple says the Air can reach up to 50% charge in 30 minutes with either a 20 W-or-higher adapter and USB-C cable, or a 30 W-or-higher adapter and MagSafe Charger. Required accessories are sold separately.
Which platform and storage options should you choose?
The Air runs Apple’s iOS platform; the Edge runs Android with Samsung’s Galaxy AI features. If you already use an iPhone, Apple services or compatible accessories, staying with iOS may make the Air the simpler fit. If you prefer Android or Samsung’s features, choose the Edge. Moving between platforms may also mean changing apps, services and accessories, so consider that alongside the hardware.

Check the configuration sold in your country before choosing; storage availability is not necessarily the same across regions.
What do they cost, and are those prices current?
Tom’s Guide reported 2025 US launch-era list prices of $999 for the iPhone Air and $1,099 for the Galaxy S25 Edge, with 256 GB entry configurations. These are historical launch-price figures, not verified current prices. Apple dated Air availability to September 19, 2025; Samsung’s US announcement is dated May 12, 2025. Which one should you buy?
Choose the iPhone Air if…
- You prefer iOS or already rely on Apple services and accessories.
- The thinner stated body measurement matters more to you than a 2 g weight difference.
- You want the 18 MP Center Stage front-camera features.
- You need a 1 TB storage option, which Apple lists for the Air.
Choose the Galaxy S25 Edge if…
- You want the larger 6.7-inch display.
- You want a dedicated rear ultrawide camera, including Samsung’s stated macro support.
- You prefer Android or want Samsung’s Galaxy AI features.
- You prioritize the slightly lower stated device weight.
If battery endurance or camera quality is your deciding factor, look for comparable tests using the same methods rather than treating a playback estimate, a web-surfing result or megapixel counts as a direct verdict.
