Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo check whether your Radeon GPU and Linux setup are supported by ROCm, match your exact GPU model, ROCm release, Linux distribution and kernel in AMD’s compatibility documentation. Then check driver and firmware alignment, and verify your intended framework separately. Support for one ROCm release does not automatically apply to another.
Check your exact Radeon model against the ROCm release
Start with the full model name shown by your system or on the product label. “Radeon RX 7000,” for example, is not precise enough: AMD’s tables identify individual cards, and compatibility can differ between models in the same family.
- Choose the ROCm version you plan to install. Use AMD’s ROCm 10.1.0 compatibility matrix as the starting point for that release. For Radeon-specific combinations, consult AMD’s Radeon Linux compatibility matrix, which currently documents ROCm 7.2.1.
- Find the exact GPU entry. Check the table for your model rather than assuming that a related Radeon card is covered. If AMD’s relevant table does not list your GPU, AMD does not officially support it in that release.
- Keep release tables separate. Do not combine a GPU entry from one ROCm release with an operating-system or kernel row from another and treat the result as a supported configuration.
AMD’s Linux system-requirements documentation states: “If a GPU is not listed on this table, it’s not officially supported by AMD.” AMD notes that community builds may enable some unlisted GPUs through TheRock nightly builds, but those builds are not part of the official ROCm release. See AMD’s Radeon Linux matrix and Linux system requirements.
Match the Linux distribution and kernel
After finding your GPU, confirm the precise Linux distribution release and kernel listed for the same ROCm version. A supported GPU does not make every Linux installation compatible.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For ROCm 7.2.1, AMD’s Radeon Linux matrix lists these operating-system combinations:
| Linux release | Desktop edition and kernel noted by AMD |
|---|---|
| Ubuntu 24.04.4 | Desktop; HWE/kernel 6.17 |
| Ubuntu 22.04.5 | Desktop; HWE/kernel 6.8 |
| RHEL 10.1 | Kernel 6.12 |
These rows describe the ROCm 7.2.1 Radeon matrix, not a universal list for every ROCm release. AMD’s Linux system-requirements page gives a different set for its current documentation: Ubuntu 24.04.4, Ubuntu 22.04.5, RHEL 10.1 and RHEL 9.7 for listed Radeon products. For ROCm 10.1.0, use that release’s unified compatibility matrix rather than inferring support from an older Radeon-specific page. The OS and kernel combinations can change between releases.

Confirm the driver, firmware and ROCm stack align
ROCm compatibility is a coordinated stack, not just a GPU driver or a package that happens to install. AMD’s versioned matrices specify operating-system, kernel, driver and firmware requirements. Confirm that the AMD driver and ROCm packages you plan to use correspond to the same release and supported OS configuration.
For ROCm 7.2.1, the Radeon Linux matrix lists compatible Radeon Software for Linux versions 22.04, 24.04 and 25.10. Treat those entries as specific to that matrix; check the selected ROCm release’s own documentation for its requirements.

Check framework compatibility separately
If your goal is to run PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX Runtime or Triton, look up the framework’s supported combination in the relevant ROCm matrix. A GPU and Linux configuration appearing as supported does not certify every framework version or software combination. Confirm the framework version and its ROCm version before installing or choosing a GPU.

The separate Linux system-requirements page includes some different entries, such as RX 9060 XT LP, and selected Radeon PRO models. These lists are tied to their respective documentation and versions; use the table for the ROCm release you actually intend to run. If you are buying hardware for ROCm, verify the exact model and your planned Linux release in that table before purchase. A model’s presence on the 7.2.1 list alone does not establish support for another release.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use runtime checks only after checking official support
Once ROCm is installed, tools such as rocminfo and a small workload can help check whether the system enumerates the device and whether an application runs. Those checks are useful operationally, but runtime detection is not proof that AMD officially supports the GPU, operating system or framework combination. Confirm the command syntax and prerequisites in the installation guide for your exact ROCm release.
