Start with the Actions Ring
The Actions Ring is a customizable on-screen overlay that brings selected tools, shortcuts, and actions near the cursor. Set it up in Logi Options+, then add the actions you reach for often enough to justify keeping them close.
Begin with a short list rather than filling every available spot. That is a practical way to keep the ring easy to scan, not a measured Logitech recommendation. Remove entries you rarely use, and favor shortcuts that otherwise require menu searching or substantial pointer movement.
Assign repeated actions to buttons and gestures
Use button customization for commands you perform regularly, such as navigation or a recurring edit. Gestures suit directional actions: hold the assigned button and move the mouse in the direction associated with the command. Logi Options+ supports button customization, gestures, and app-specific settings.

Logitech’s MX Master 4 getting-started guide says up to five different actions can be assigned to the Gesture button, and gestures can also be mapped to other buttons. Choose mappings that feel natural and build on your muscle memory rather than copying a supposedly universal layout.
Use Smart Actions for stable routines
Smart Actions can trigger multiple tasks with one click or keystroke. They are a good fit when you repeat the same sequence reliably—for example, opening a consistent set of work apps or carrying out a recurring series of steps.

If the sequence changes frequently, maintaining the automation may be more trouble than doing the tasks manually. Logitech documents the capability, but does not establish a universal time saving.
Tune pointer speed and scrolling for your work
Logi Options+ provides controls for pointer speed, scrolling speed, scrolling direction, and other pointing and scrolling behavior. There is no single best speed or direction established for all users.

- For design canvases or precise selections, adjust pointer speed until positioning feels controlled.
- Change one setting at a time, use it during a normal work session, and keep it only if it improves control or comfort.
Set haptic feedback to a useful level
The MX Master 4 haptic guide lists four intensity choices: Subtle, Low, Medium, and High. Starting at a lower level and increasing it only if the cues are hard to notice is a preference-based suggestion, not a tested best setting.
Logitech documents haptics for Actions Ring navigation and selection, Smart Actions, and supported gestures. The haptic feedback guide specifies that haptic feedback for gestures is available with Hold + Move Left, Right, Up, and Down; Gesture Click does not support haptics.

Check your software and Windows requirements
Logi Options+ is the configuration app for advanced settings such as the Actions Ring, Smart Actions, gestures, and haptics. Logitech’s download page lists Windows 10 or later and macOS 14 or later; check the current software requirements because support can change.
Native Windows haptics are separate from the haptic features configured in Options+. Logitech says native Windows haptics for actions such as window snapping or resizing require Windows 11 with the update released at the end of March 2026 or later. If they do not appear automatically, Logitech says to check for a mouse firmware update in the Options+ device settings. This requirement concerns native Windows behavior, not the general availability of Options+ customizations.

For business-edition details, Logitech’s MX Master 4 for Business page says that edition can switch among up to three devices. Check the exact model and regional listing before applying business-edition specifications to another retail variant.
What Logitech’s productivity figures mean
Logitech’s MX Master 4 product page reports up to 33% time saved and up to 63% fewer mouse movements in a 2025 Ergo Lab study. Logitech describes the study as involving 37 MX Master mouse users and eight desktop actions, and says, “Results may vary depending on assigned shortcuts.” These are vendor-reported results from that study, not a guarantee or an independently established outcome for every user.
