To set up an Archer BE3600, first confirm its hardware version and purchase region, then follow the matching TP-Link instructions to connect it and configure internet access. Before you finish, set a strong Wi-Fi password, choose a supported security mode, change the router’s administrator password separately, and check firmware for your exact revision.
1. Check your Archer BE3600’s hardware version and region
TP-Link documentation and product availability vary by region, and the Archer BE3600 has more than one hardware revision. Read the label on the router to identify its version, then select that revision on the TP-Link Archer BE3600 support page for the region where you bought it. Use the matching manual and downloads; do not assume a port description, firmware file, or interface image applies to every revision.

For ports, buttons, and LED meanings, use the manual for your specific model. TP-Link’s support-page note for its setup video says: “For detailed information on ports, buttons, and LED indicators, please refer to the user manual for your specific model.” The video demonstrates a BE230, so its product may differ from yours.
2. Connect the router and choose a setup route
TP-Link’s combined Archer BE230/BE3600 guide covers physical connection and internet setup. Follow the hardware-connection instructions in the guide for your revision and region. Then choose one of the setup methods the guide supports:

- Web management: Use a computer or other device with a browser to open the router’s management interface and follow the Quick Setup Wizard or configure the internet connection manually.
- Tether app: Use TP-Link’s Tether app on a phone and follow the setup prompts shown for your router.
- Access-point mode: Choose this when another router is already managing the network and you want the Archer to provide Wi-Fi as an access point. This differs from standard wireless-router mode, so select the mode that matches how your network is arranged.
Exact screens and available options can vary with hardware version and firmware. Use the regional support page to locate the applicable Archer BE230/BE3600 user guide.
3. Set your Wi-Fi name, password, and security mode
Once the router is online, change the default wireless name (SSID) and password to credentials you choose. TP-Link documents this in both web management and Tether; the labels and menu locations may differ by model. Follow the wireless-settings instructions for your firmware, or consult TP-Link’s wireless settings FAQ.

Choose a security option your router offers. TP-Link recommends WPA2-PSK AES or WPA2-PSK AES/WPA3-Personal where supported. Options vary by model, so use the strongest compatible choice available in your router’s settings rather than expecting every revision to show the same menu.
After saving a new SSID or password, a device connected over Wi-Fi will disconnect. Reconnect it using the new network name and password.

4. Change the administrator password separately
The router administrator password and Wi-Fi password protect different things. The Wi-Fi password lets devices join the wireless network; the administrator password controls access to router settings. Set a distinct, strong administrator password rather than reusing the Wi-Fi credential.
TP-Link documents the web path as Advanced > System > Administration. In Tether, use the system or password controls; exact app labels can vary. See TP-Link’s administrator-password FAQ for the procedure that matches your interface.

5. Protect guest access with a password
If you enable the guest network, choose a password-protected security setting. The Archer BE230/BE3600 guide includes a guest-network feature, and its “No security” option requires no password. Avoid that option if you want guest access to be protected. Check your revision’s settings for the available guest-network options; do not assume features such as client isolation are present or enabled.
6. Check for firmware updates that match your revision
Open the Archer BE3600 support page for your purchase region, select the exact hardware version shown on the router label, and review its downloads. Install only firmware listed for that revision and region, following TP-Link’s instructions. A firmware file for another version should not be treated as interchangeable.
Firmware listings change over time. For example, a V2.6 listing showed build 1.3.5 dated 2026-08-12, with a fix for unstable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. That is a revision-specific historical listing, not a recommendation that the build is current or appropriate for every BE3600. Check the downloads page for your own revision before updating.
