Not on the evidence available. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ look like capable Android tablets, and the Ultra can be configured for laptop-style work. But the sources available do not establish what “Googlebook” refers to, let alone its features or price. That makes a head-to-head verdict impossible. The useful question is whether an S12 fits your work—and whether your apps and accessories make it a practical laptop substitute.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
Samsung’s US product details list a 14.6-inch display, a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, S Pen support, and DeX. Samsung also lists compatible accessories such as the Pro Keyboard with trackpad, Book Cover, and Anti-Reflecting Screen Protector. Check the exact model and market configuration before buying accessories or relying on a particular specification.
Galaxy Tab S12+
Samsung’s US page names the S12+ as a separate model in the family. The specific Ultra display and processor figures above should not be applied to the S12+ without confirming its own current specifications.

Can the Galaxy Tab S12 replace a laptop?
For some people and tasks, it may. Samsung presents the S12 as an Android tablet with Google apps and promotes DeX for a desktop-style experience. Its newsroom said on October 5, 2026, that the S12 works with a Google account and apps regardless of which phone a person uses. That means a Galaxy phone is not a stated prerequisite; it does not mean every desktop program or laptop workflow is supported.
Tom’s Guide’s 2026 tablet guide describes the S12 Ultra as work-capable, but not a flawless laptop replacement. It says a Samsung tablet can suit tasks such as email, web work, video calls, note-taking, documents, and light multitasking, particularly with a keyboard and DeX. The same guide advises checking whether Android app versions meet your needs. T3’s hands-on coverage calls the 14.6-inch Ultra with the separately purchased Pro Keyboard a laptop-like setup; that describes its form factor, not desktop-software parity.

When a tablet setup may fit
- Notes, reading, and drawing: The S Pen and touchscreen suit stylus-led work and tablet use.
- Everyday communication and documents: Email, web tasks, calls, notes, and document work are among the uses Tom’s Guide identifies as possible on a Samsung tablet.
- Light multitasking: DeX and a keyboard can make switching between work tasks more laptop-like, subject to app support.

When to favor a conventional computer workflow

What do the S12’s launch details mean for a buyer?
Samsung Newsroom US said the S12 Ultra and S12+ would be available beginning October 7, 2026. That is a US launch statement, not a guarantee of stock, pricing, or release timing in other markets. Samsung’s product configurations, accessories, and offers can change, so check current local listings before making a purchase decision.
Samsung also said Photoshop for Tablet would be preloaded on the S12 series and exclusive to the Galaxy Store for at least six months from October 7, 2026, after which Adobe may launch it in other app stores. Treat that as Samsung’s launch announcement, not a promise about later availability in a specific region or app store.

So, is the Galaxy Tab S12 a better choice?
The S12 Ultra is a credible option for tablet-first productivity if its Android apps cover your work and you are comfortable adding a keyboard when needed. It is not proven to replace every laptop, and there is no grounded way to declare it superior to an undefined “Googlebook.” Identify the actual competing device, price both complete setups, and test your essential apps and peripherals before choosing.
