Extract equipment you have replaced and do not expect to keep or transfer. Before you confirm, check that item’s preview for the materials returned, any appearance unlock, the Kina fee, and warnings about upgrades you will lose. In AION 2, Item Extraction dismantles equipment; Essence Extraction is a separate gathering profession.
Which gear is worth extracting?
Replaced gear while leveling
When a better item replaces a piece and you have no reason to keep the old one, Item Extraction is a practical way to clear it from your inventory. An October 2026 SPACE4GAMES guide describes early gear as fairly disposable and recommends extracting unused pieces. Read the guide.
Gear you might keep or transfer
Pause before extracting gear that could become a longer-term piece, especially around level 40 and later, when you may be considering further investment or moving progression to another item. The same guide recommends keeping prospective long-term gear and using Transfer for upgraded equipment whose progression you want to move. It also says global Transfer rules were not fully established in its account, so do not assume regional Korean or Taiwanese guidance describes the global version.
Check what extraction gives—and what it costs
Item Extraction dismantles equipment for enhancement materials and may unlock the item’s appearance in the Wardrobe. The extraction interface shows the expected return and Kina cost before confirmation; use that per-item preview rather than relying on a fixed yield. One SPACE4GAMES writer reported that extracting a helmet cost 1,000 Kina and returned 17 Enhance Stones, as well as an appearance unlock. That is a single reported example, not a standard conversion rate; the item preview is the useful figure for your gear.
Be cautious with enhanced or socketed items
Extraction may return Enhance Stones from enhanced equipment, but the October 2026 guide says invested Manastones and Theostones are not recovered. A fan wiki also lists those socketed upgrades and spent Kina as unrecovered. Consult the fan wiki. Because these are secondary-source descriptions and results can depend on the item, read the in-game warning before proceeding.

- Uninvested, replaced item: usually a reasonable extraction candidate if you do not plan to keep or transfer it.
- Enhanced item: compare the previewed Enhance Stone return against the upgrades and Kina you may lose.
- Socketed item: do not assume Manastones or Theostones will come back; check the warning for that item.
- Potential long-term item: hold it for review rather than dismantling it impulsively.
