Neither is a direct match for the announced game, which combines both kinds of appeal.
What makes a game like Draga’s Wake?
Draga’s Wake is set in an alternate 1909, aboard the Ormora, a colossal whaling steamship frozen in ice and overtaken by a doomsday cult. Its hardened sailor protagonist, Draga, is trying to reunite his scattered crew and discover what is waking inside the ship. The official project site describes three gameplay pillars: absorbing the dead, brutal close-quarters combat and exploring the ship’s towering wooden interiors and dark compartments.
That pitch crosses several genres: its ancient-god threat and body transformation suggest cosmic horror, while its shipboard exploration and close combat suggest action horror. The best alternative depends on which side matters most to you. The comparisons below are editorial matches based on each game’s published descriptions, not claims that they share a setting or are endorsed by the developers.
SIGNALIS: best for cosmic mystery and psychological horror
Choose SIGNALIS if the draw of Draga’s Wake is its enigmatic threat, unsettling atmosphere and mystery. In the released game, Elster searches for her lost partner and for answers to her dreams, scavenging a facility, managing scarce resources and solving puzzles. Its story and exploration make it the closer fit for a player interested in memory, identity and an uncanny world rather than straightforward action.

The trade-off is the gameplay format: SIGNALIS is a survival-horror exploration game, not a third-person close-quarters brawler like the combat described for Draga’s Wake. It was released on October 27, 2022, according to its Steam listing, which recommends playing with headphones.
Resident Evil 2: best for third-person survival-horror action
Pick Resident Evil 2 if you want a released third-person horror game with a more recognizable action-survival framework. Its story begins during a zombie outbreak in Raccoon City, giving you a cinematic crisis and survival-focused horror rather than the ancient-god mythology and frozen whaling ship announced for Draga’s Wake.

Is Draga’s Wake released, and is there a public demo?
No. The official site labels Draga’s Wake “In development” and “Seeking publishing partner.” A developer Steam announcement dated October 2, 2026, says the team had an updated demo for publisher discussions and was working toward a deal; that does not establish a public demo. The announcement also reports the project had reached its first 10,000 wishlists, a figure reported by the developer rather than independently audited. The official sources cited here do not confirm a release date, a publisher or a branching-choice system.

Strange Creature Factory’s owner and creative director, Greg J Strangis, described the project as “the game I kept waiting for someone else to make one that takes creature and character design seriously as a storytelling medium, not just as spectacle.” His July developer note connects creature design to character and story; it is a statement of creative intent, not confirmation of specific narrative mechanics.
