No. Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds are rated IPX4 and are intended to resist sweat and water during non-water sports and exercise—not to be submerged or used for swimming or showering. The charging case has no stated water or sweat resistance, so keep it dry too.
What IPX4 means for Powerbeats Pro 2
Apple Support says the earbuds have an IPX4 rating under IEC 60529 and are sweat and water resistant for non-water sports and exercise. Apple also explicitly says they are not waterproof or sweatproof. The rating does not establish a safe water depth, immersion time, or pressure tolerance for this model, so it is not a basis for using the earbuds underwater. Apple’s guidance on Beats sweat and water resistance describes the intended scope.
Earbuds and charging case have different protection

Water exposure to avoid
Apple advises against swimming or bathing with the earbuds, putting them under running water, submerging them, or exposing them to pressurized or high-velocity water. Do not use them in a sauna or steam room. Avoid salt water, pool water, soapy water, sunscreen, lotions, oils, solvents, and other liquids that can affect seals or acoustic membranes.

How to dry and care for them
- After a workout, heavy sweating, or splashes, wipe the earbuds with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- After liquid exposure, let the earbuds dry completely for at least two hours before using or charging them. Do not put wet earbuds in the case; charging wet earbuds may damage the earbuds and case.
- Do not rinse the earbuds or case. Avoid cleaning products, compressed air, and external heat such as a hair dryer, and do not put liquid into openings.
For limited contact cleaning, Apple’s model-specific instructions say to remove the earbuds from the case and disconnect the charging cable. A cotton swab slightly dampened with warm water may be used on the earbud charging contacts; a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with warm water may be used on the case charging pins. If necessary, those materials may be slightly dampened with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol. These narrow instructions are not permission to wet or rinse the devices; use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth on other areas. See Apple’s full cleaning steps and cautions.
Does the resistance last forever?
No. Apple says water and sweat resistance is not permanent and may diminish with normal wear. Apple does not state a lifespan for the resistance or provide a consumer test for checking an individual pair, so a particular pair’s protection cannot be confirmed by applying water to it.
