In Captain Tsubasa: Ace, rarity is a useful roster label, not a complete measure of a player’s value. Compare players by the position they fill, their relevant stats and skills, and their development path; then weigh those factors against the current version’s available options. The sources available do not establish a complete official rarity scale, stat formulas, or rarity-based upgrade rules.
What rarity labels mean—and what they do not tell you
Current coverage of Captain Tsubasa: Ace shows players labeled SSR and SR alongside their positions. That confirms those labels are used to distinguish players in roster discussions, but it does not establish every rarity tier or what a label guarantees about stats, skills, or a player’s final potential.
Rarity alone is not a reliable ranking. In Pocket Gamer’s tier list for version 1.9.0, some SR players appear in the S tier alongside many SSR players. The list is an author’s evaluation of the current meta, not an official developer ranking. How to compare stats and skills
Start with the job you need a player to do. Compare players who can fill the same position, then consider the stats and skills that matter for that role. The current tier guide treats stats and skills as major ranking factors, while also considering the options available at each position. It does not provide an official formula for how individual attributes translate into match outcomes, so avoid assuming a particular stat has a specific effect unless the game explains it.

- Position: Decide which roster role needs attention before comparing overall impressions.
- Stats and skills: Look at the player’s displayed attributes and abilities in the context of that role rather than treating a single number or rarity label as decisive.
- Available alternatives: A player’s practical value depends partly on who else can fill that position in your roster and in the current meta.
Why the development path matters
Training can change how useful a player is for your approach. The official app listing says, “As you train your players, different developmental paths for the same player can significantly influence his on-field performance and skill strategies.” In other words, two players with the same identity need not be evaluated as though their development choices are interchangeable.
The listing does not give the underlying formulas or explain how a particular path changes a numerical stat. Check the player’s current in-game screen and official support material for exact path effects rather than inferring them from another game.

How to use tier lists without mistaking them for rules
Pocket Gamer’s list is explicitly tied to version 1.9.0 and represents its author’s view of the meta at the time of its October 5, 2026 update. Use it as a snapshot for comparing options, not a permanent verdict or an official ranking. New releases and game updates can change which players are strongest or most useful at a position.
Captain Tsubasa: Ace is a mobile game with distinct modes: Dream League emphasizes strategic formations, while Ace Showdown focuses on real-time actions. A player’s usefulness can therefore depend on the mode and the way you build or play your team. The official Apple App Store listing describes the game and its training paths.

What is not established about rarity and stats
The available sources do not document a complete official rarity hierarchy, attribute formulas, numerical thresholds, rarity advancement, duplicate-investment rules, or how rarity affects final stat ceilings. They also do not support importing mechanics or calculations from Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team; it is a separate game. For exact mechanics, rely on current in-game player details or official support information, not assumptions based on a different title or an unofficial tier list.
