You can install a window-mounted security camera without drilling by attaching a camera designed for glass—or a mount explicitly compatible with your camera—to a clean, dry interior pane. Check the live view before securing the cable, and plan for reflections, glass suitability, and mount retention.

Choose a glass-ready camera or a compatible mount

A camera intended to sit against glass is usually the more direct option. A separate window mount can work if you already own a camera that the mount explicitly supports; compatibility alone does not mean that the camera’s image or night lighting will work well through a window.

Wyze Window Cam Indoor-only camera with adhesive on the camera; the package includes two mounting stickers. Wyze says to mount on glass only and not behind a screen. Wyze says it omits IR lights and a spotlight to reduce reflections. This does not guarantee glare-free footage in every room. The product page lists a 10-foot USB cable and power adapter.
eufy Window Camera E10 Designed for window placement, with a wraparound design and tool-free installation. eufy lists anti-reflection stickers; actual image quality depends on the window and room conditions. Includes cable clips and supports microSD cards up to 256 GB, according to eufy.
Wyze Window Mount Separate accessory listed for Wyze Cam v3, v3 Pro, v4, and OG-series cameras. Confirm the exact model before buying or installing. Do not assume an ordinary camera will avoid reflections or perform well through glass; its lighting can reflect in the pane. Check the camera and mount instructions for the power and recording setup that applies to your model.
Panasonic HomeHawk WINDOW KX-HNC500W Panasonic documents suction-cup and tape attachment methods, but marks this model discontinued. Panasonic says images can be viewed clearly through double-glazed glass; that is a model-specific manufacturer claim, not a guarantee for other cameras or windows. Consult the product instructions for its setup. Its discontinued status means it should not be treated as a current purchase recommendation without checking availability.

Check the window before attaching anything

  • Choose a smooth, stable interior pane with a useful view of the outdoor area. Panasonic warns that its camera cannot attach to uneven surfaces and advises against rough, dirty, or condensation-prone windows.
  • Clean the glass and let it dry fully. Dirt or moisture can interfere with an adhesive or suction attachment.
  • Do not place a camera behind a screen if following Wyze Window Cam’s instructions. Wyze says to install it on window glass only.
  • If the glass has tinted film, ask the window manufacturer before applying adhesive. Panasonic specifically advises checking before using its tape method on tinted film.
  • Use the camera app to preview framing and likely reflections before fixing the mount in place.

Install the camera using its own attachment method

Mounting steps differ by product. Follow the instructions for the camera or accessory you have rather than transferring one model’s procedure to another.

For Panasonic HomeHawk WINDOW’s suction mount

  1. Press the full camera firmly against the prepared glass.
  2. Secure the suction lock lever and close its cover as directed by Panasonic.
  3. Check that the camera is seated securely before letting go.

For Panasonic HomeHawk WINDOW’s tape method

Use the supplied tape according to Panasonic’s attachment instructions. The method is intended for standard window glass; check with the window manufacturer before applying tape to tinted film.

For Wyze Window Cam

  1. Place the mounting sticker horizontally on clean, dry glass.
  2. Press the camera onto the sticker as shown in Wyze’s instructions.
  3. Check the view before finishing cable routing.

Wyze’s installation page says: “Install on window glass only. Do not mount on a window behind a screen.” See the complete installation instructions for the model-specific steps.

Check glare and night vision before finishing

Glass can reflect light from inside the room back into the camera. At night, an ordinary camera’s infrared (IR) illuminators or spotlight may be especially visible in the image. A camera designed for window use may omit those lights or include reflection-reducing features, but those design choices cannot eliminate every reflection; room lighting, camera position, and the glass all affect the result.

Wyze says Window Cam omits IR lights and a spotlight to reduce glare, and recommends a horizontal sticker position in its installation instructions. eufy lists anti-reflection stickers for its Window Camera E10. Treat these as manufacturer-described design features, not independently verified performance across different windows. Panasonic’s statement about viewing through double glazing applies to its HomeHawk WINDOW model.

After attaching the camera, review the live view in both daylight and the lighting conditions in which you expect to use it. If the image is obscured by indoor reflections, adjust the camera’s position or room lighting where practical, then check the view again before settling on the cable route.

Route the power cable and check the mount

Once the image is acceptable, route a powered camera’s cable along the sill or wall. Use the supplied clips where included; Wyze’s Window Cam instructions describe securing the cable along the windowsill or wall, and eufy lists cable clips for the E10. Keep the cable arranged so it does not interfere with opening or closing the window.

Mount retention also needs attention. Panasonic warns that direct sun can warm glass and weaken suction. Its instructions advise periodically removing and reattaching the camera, and removing it before opening or closing the window. Panasonic also warns that a camera attached high can break if it falls. Follow the maintenance guidance for your own model, and place the camera low enough to limit the consequences of a mount failure.

When a no-drill window installation is not suitable

  • The pane is uneven, rough, dirty, or frequently damp: the attachment may not hold reliably; Panasonic specifically cautions against these conditions for its HomeHawk WINDOW.
  • The glass has tinted film: do not apply tape without checking with the window manufacturer.
  • A screen sits between the camera and outdoors: Wyze says not to install its Window Cam behind one.
  • You need a compatible mount for an existing camera: verify the exact camera model in the accessory’s compatibility information. Wyze lists the v3, v3 Pro, v4, and OG series for its Window Mount; that list should not be generalized to other cameras.
  • You cannot get a usable image through the glass: reflections or the window’s conditions may make the indoor-facing setup impractical, even when the camera is physically attached.
