Select the reason that best fits the behavior and submit. If a particular post or direct message contains the harassment, report that item separately as well.
How to report a TikTok account in the app or browser
- Open the profile. Find the account you want to report and go to its profile.
- Open the reporting menu. In the TikTok app, tap Share. In a browser, choose More options.
- Choose the account report. Tap or select Report, then Report account.
- Select a reason and submit. Choose the option that most accurately describes the conduct and follow the prompts. TikTok’s account-reporting instructions describe this flow. App and browser labels can change as TikTok updates its interface.
Report the post or message containing the harassment
An account report and a report about a specific item are separate actions. If the behavior appears in a post or direct message, report that content too so it can be reviewed in context.
Report a post
Open the post, tap Share or press and hold it, then tap Report. Choose the closest reason, select a subtopic if TikTok prompts you, and submit. See TikTok’s post-reporting instructions.
Report a direct message
Open Inbox and the relevant chat. Press and hold the message to report that message, or use the chat’s More options menu to report the conversation. TikTok’s message flow offers Report and Report and block. The direct-message reporting instructions explain the available choices.

What TikTok considers harassment
TikTok’s Safety and Civility Community Guidelines, released August 14, 2025 and effective September 13, 2025, prohibit harassment and bullying, including retaliation. Examples include unwanted sexual comments or behavior, insults about someone’s physical attributes, wishing serious harm on someone, doxing, and encouraging others to post abuse or falsely report an account.
Not every critical or unkind comment necessarily violates the rules. TikTok distinguishes prohibited harassment from some lower-severity degrading behavior: the latter may be ineligible for the For You feed and can be removed in some cases when added context indicates a risk of more serious harm. The guidelines also allow criticism of a person’s content or actions, while prohibiting highly harmful harassment and conduct that breaks other policies. Choose the reporting reason that best matches what actually happened rather than treating disagreement or criticism alone as proof of a violation.

Limit contact after reporting
Use TikTok’s interaction controls to restrict unwanted contact with your account and content. You can also choose Report and block when reporting a direct message. Reporting alone should not be assumed to block the account; use the separate blocking or interaction-control options if you want to limit further contact. TikTok describes its safety options in its user safety guidance.
What to do if there is an immediate threat
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services right away. Do not wait for TikTok to review a report. TikTok says it reports specific, credible, and imminent threats to human life or serious physical injury to relevant law enforcement authorities, but a platform report is not a substitute for emergency help. What happens after you submit a report?
A report asks TikTok to review an account or content; the cited guidance does not promise removal or specify a response time. Submit the report with the reason that best fits the conduct, and report individual posts or messages separately when relevant. Do not assume that every reported account or item will be removed.
