You need your own copy of Lossless Scaling from Steam and a compatible Android device. The official documentation confirms the feature and targets, but does not specify the exact menu path, so use the controls shown in your installed build rather than relying on unverified click-by-click instructions.
What you need before configuring LSFG
- DroidDeck 0.3.0 or a later build that includes LSFG. The feature and its listed targets are documented in the 0.3.0 release notes. Check the official download page for the current release.
- Your own Lossless Scaling copy from Steam. DroidDeck does not include the software license or its proprietary shaders; it uses Lossless Scaling from your Steam library. See the DroidDeck README.
- A supported Android device. DroidDeck’s stated baseline is Android 9 or newer with a supported Adreno GPU: Adreno 730 or newer, or Adreno 8xx. The README lists Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR, and Adreno 710 as unsupported. Android version alone does not establish compatibility, and the project says device validation is limited. Check the compatibility database for device-specific information.
Install and start DroidDeck
- Install the APK from the project’s Releases.
- Install the Linux runtime in DroidDeck, then press Play and sign in. Steam downloads on its first launch.
- Before launching Steam, turn off Android’s Restrict child processes setting in Developer options. Some Android 12 and 13 devices may offer a Fix it for me button on the first Steam launch.
These are general DroidDeck installation prerequisites, not LSFG-specific controls.
Choose an LSFG target in your installed build
Once DroidDeck is running a build with LSFG, use the LSFG controls available in that build to select one of its documented targets: 60, 90, or 120 FPS. The 0.3.0 notes say generated frames are paced against the game’s frames, but do not identify the settings page or say whether the target is global, per mode, or per game. Menu labels and placement should therefore be confirmed in the app version you have installed.
Do not confuse DroidDeck’s Steam integration with the separate LSFG-Android app. Its MediaProjection workflow is not the documented setup for LSFG in DroidDeck.

Pick a target based on your display and game
There is no universally best target established for every Android device or Steam game. Compare three things before settling on a setting:
- Display refresh rate: Check the refresh rate your device can actually use while playing.
- Stable game frame rate: Use a rate the game can sustain on your specific device, rather than a brief peak.
- Available DroidDeck target: Choose among the targets shown by your installed version; the documented 0.3.0 options are 60, 90, and 120 FPS.
Lossless Scaling’s general guidance recommends at least 60 FPS in-game with a 120 Hz monitor for best LSFG quality. It also says 30 FPS with a 60 Hz display may work in some games at resolutions up to 1080p. Those are general recommendations from its LSFG introduction, not a tested DroidDeck recipe or a guarantee of smooth results on a particular Android device.

What to expect—and what the numbers do not mean
An LSFG target is not the same as a promise that the game will render natively at that rate. DroidDeck’s release notes describe generated-frame pacing against game frames; they do not establish comparative performance across devices or games. No controlled DroidDeck LSFG benchmark is available here, so judge the result in the game and on the display you use.
The 0.3.0 release notes also report Steam startup changing from about 31 seconds to about 6 seconds. That is a developer-reported startup change, not an LSFG performance measurement.
