What Cisco means by agentic AI in Webex
The phrase “new agentic framework” is a useful shorthand for Cisco’s direction, not the formal name of a single product launch. The story covers several related pieces: tools for building agents, workflow automation, integrations with enterprise systems, and protocols for agents to find capabilities and coordinate actions.
That distinction matters because the announcements arrived at different times and describe different products. Cisco announced Webex AI Agent and AI Agent Studio for contact-center use in October 2024, before its later collaboration-focused announcements. What agents and integrations are intended to do
Build agents and automate work
Webex describes AI Agents for Collaboration as agents that businesses, teams, and individuals can create in AI Agent Studio. The stated aim is to connect agents to business systems and automate work across voice, video, and digital interactions. The current Webex update page labels this offering “Coming Soon,” so that description should not be treated as confirmation of general availability. (Webex, What’s New)
Connect to enterprise applications
Cisco’s September 2025 announcement named the Amazon Q index, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Salesforce in its Webex Suite integration story, describing access to enterprise data and workflow automation. Its March 2025 announcement named Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Jira as enterprise application examples for workflow automation. Let agents discover and coordinate capabilities
Webex says its Agentic Apps category is based on Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A). It describes agents as able to discover capabilities, share context, and coordinate actions across Webex and enterprise systems. That is a different layer of the story from an individual agent-building tool or a named application integration: the protocols are intended to support connections and coordination among agents and tools. Webex for Developers maintains a changing trail of MCP server availability updates across Webex services and external platforms. The page includes a September 2026 update on Webex Suite availability in Codex; because the page is continuously updated, its current contents are the appropriate reference for a live availability check. Is Webex AI Agent Studio available now?
Availability cannot be stated universally from Cisco’s dated launch announcements. Cisco’s 2025 press releases set future availability targets, but those targets do not prove that a capability subsequently launched or that it is available to every customer. Separately, Webex’s current “What’s New” page labels AI Agents for Collaboration “Coming Soon.” Other products or integrations may have their own availability.
The reviewed product information does not establish current pricing, licensing tiers, geographic eligibility, or one deployment date covering all the capabilities described here. Organizations evaluating a deployment should confirm those specifics with Cisco or their Webex administrator rather than infer them from announcement dates or integration examples.

What enterprises should check before evaluating it
The announcements describe a direction and a set of capabilities, but they do not provide a like-for-like comparison with competing enterprise agent platforms. For a practical evaluation, ask Cisco and your administrator for evidence on the specific deployment you are considering:
- Agent creation: Which AI Agent Studio features can your organization use, and what can administrators customize?
- Connected systems: Which applications and MCP servers are currently supported for your account, and what setup or licensing is required?
- Where agents can act: Which voice, video, messaging, and workflow experiences are included in the available offer?
- Controls and oversight: What permissions, approval steps, audit records, and human handoffs apply when an agent takes action?
- Deployment status: Is each feature generally available, in controlled availability, or still planned, and does that status apply in your region and edition?
These questions separate the broad promise of agentic collaboration from the concrete functions and controls a customer can deploy.
