Eligible My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members generally get 60 days, but that extension does not apply to Marketplace purchases. The item must be like-new and include its accessories and packaging, and the seller and item-specific terms on your order can affect your options.
How long do you have to return a gaming PC, monitor, or component?
Best Buy’s policy gives most products 15 days to return. Eligible My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members get 60 days. The clock starts when you receive the product, not when you place the order. These periods apply to new, clearance, open-box, refurbished, and pre-owned items. Best Buy’s 14-day category is for activatable devices, such as cellular phones; ordinary gaming PCs, monitors, and PC components are not identified as belonging to that category. Check who sold the item
For an item sold by Best Buy, eligible Plus or Total membership can extend the return period to 60 days. Marketplace Products generally follow the standard policy unless the listing says otherwise, but the membership extension does not apply to Marketplace purchases. Check the seller shown in your order details before relying on a membership window. Marketplace returns may be handled in-store for many products or shipped to the Marketplace Seller through the account return flow; size and product limits apply to in-store returns.
What condition and contents are required?
Best Buy requires a return to be in like-new condition. It may deny a return for damage, scratches, dents, unsanitary condition, or missing major contents. Include the accessories and packaging that came with the PC, monitor, or component. Missing items may result in a denied return or a nonrefundable deduction.

Are there restocking fees or item-specific exceptions?
Best Buy’s current policy does not list ordinary gaming PCs, monitors, or computer components as restocking-fee categories. It does list a 15% fee for certain items, including projectors and special-order products; the policy describes exemptions for unopened products and purchases in certain states. Because a particular item may be a special order or subject to another exception, review its order details and the live policy rather than assuming every computer-related item has identical terms.
Best Buy’s policy also identifies final-sale and other nonreturnable items. Some opened consumables and Marketplace Seller entertainment products cannot be returned. Fully regulated hazardous materials cannot be returned through Best Buy channels, and rechargeable-battery products must include the original battery to qualify. These item-specific rules can override the usual timeframe.

How to return an item or report a defect
- Check the order. In your Best Buy account, open the order and confirm the seller, receipt date, return eligibility, and any item-specific terms.
- Choose the return route. Eligible online purchases shipped from and sold by Best Buy can generally be returned to a Best Buy store or mailed using a prepaid return label. Marketplace orders may use an in-store return where the item qualifies, or the account return flow to ship the item to the Marketplace Seller.
- Prepare the item. Return it in like-new condition with its accessories and packaging. For a battery-powered product, include the original battery.
- If it is damaged or defective, act within the return period. For an item sold by Best Buy, return it for a replacement or contact Best Buy for mail-return instructions. For a Marketplace item, report the problem to the seller through your Best Buy account.
When will a refund arrive?
Best Buy says mailed returns are processed within 7–10 business days after receipt. Your bank may take additional time—up to 10 days after processing—to show the credit. Refunds generally go to the original payment method, with stated exceptions: certain large cash or check/debit payments may be refunded by check, and Best Buy Gift Card funds may be returned as a new gift card or e-gift card.
Does the holiday return window apply?
Best Buy’s published 2025 holiday extension covered purchases made October 31 through December 31, 2025, with returns through January 15, 2026, subject to exclusions. That window has expired. Best Buy has not established a 2026 holiday return window in the cited holiday FAQ, so check its current policy and your order rather than assuming a seasonal extension applies.
