To get notified when a fare changes, set up a price alert for your route and dates in Google Flights or Skyscanner. Google Flights also offers tracking for “Any dates” and for a specific flight. Alerts tell you to check the current itinerary; they do not reserve a seat or guarantee the lowest fare.
Track flight prices with Google Flights
- Open Google Flights and enter your departure airport and destination.
- Set the number of stops, cabin class, and ticket count to match your trip. These filters help ensure the alert follows the kind of itinerary you would actually book.
- For fixed travel dates, choose those dates and turn on Track prices. To follow prices on the route without choosing dates, select Any dates. To track one itinerary, select the flights and turn on tracking for those flights.
- Open Tracked Flights to view saved routes or flights. Google’s help page says you can turn email notifications on or off there, or remove a saved item.
- When an alert arrives, reopen the itinerary and check the live fare and booking details before deciding.
What Google’s alerts tell you
For flexible-date tracking, Google says it emails when the route’s minimum price drops significantly over a month. If the drop is not large enough, it may send a regular email with available prices instead. Google also describes alerts for certain tracked fares that are likely to rise or are about to expire, with an estimate and confidence indication. These are Google’s feature descriptions, not guarantees of a future price or prediction accuracy.
Set up a Skyscanner price alert
Skyscanner’s cited instructions cover alerts for a route and a specific date. You must be signed in to a Skyscanner account to create one.
- Sign in to Skyscanner and search for your route and travel date.
- On desktop, use the Track prices or Get Price Alerts control in the results. On mobile web, save the flight with the heart. In the app, use the alert toggle or bell shown in the results.
- Skyscanner says it will email you when prices change. To stop an alert, use the stop control in its email or manage alerts from your profile page.

Use Google AI Mode to request flight tracking
Google announced on August 27, 2026, that users can ask AI Mode in Search to track flight prices for a destination and dates, confirm the request, and receive email updates when prices change. Google said this feature was available in more than 180 countries and territories at announcement time, subject to supported AI Mode locations and languages; the announcement excludes EEA countries and territories for this flight-tracking feature. Availability can vary by location and change over time, so check whether the option appears for you. This announcement applies to the AI Mode feature, not necessarily to every Google Flights feature. How to use an alert before booking
- Set filters to match your actual needs, including stops, cabin class, and ticket count where available.
- Use a specific-date alert when your schedule is fixed; use Google’s “Any dates” option when you can be flexible.
- Compare the current total and the seller’s booking terms when you open an alert. Prices can change, and an alert does not hold a seat.
- Treat price-change and likely-rise notices as prompts to review the fare, not as a promise about what it will cost later.
The official setup sources do not establish how quickly alerts arrive, whether they catch every change, how much users save, or how accurate price-rise estimates are. They also do not establish a best weekday to book.
