If your Sony headphones won’t connect or keep disconnecting, first check whether they have reconnected to another paired device. Then reduce possible Bluetooth interference, restart and re-pair, and test with a second source before considering a reset. Sony’s initialization procedure erases saved Bluetooth pairings, and the exact steps vary by model.

First, check whether another device has taken the connection

Sony headphones may reconnect automatically to a device they used recently. That can make them appear unavailable to the phone, computer, or player you want to use now.

  1. Disconnect the headphones from the other phone, computer, or player, or turn Bluetooth off on that device temporarily.
  2. On the device you want to use, open its Bluetooth settings and select your Sony headphones to connect manually.

Sony says its supported headphones and speakers can generally be registered with up to eight devices, but receive or transmit audio to only one at a time. Registration does not mean several devices can play audio simultaneously. Sony: Unable to connect after pairing with multiple devices

If the connection drops, reduce possible interference

Move the headphones and playback device closer together and retry somewhere less crowded, away from likely radio-interference sources such as microwaves. Sony notes that radio interference can affect Bluetooth communication; no particular distance or location is guaranteed to prevent every dropout. Sony: Headphones cannot pair or connect once paired

Restart the source and pair the headphones again

  1. Restart the phone, computer, or other playback device.
  2. Open that device’s Bluetooth settings and remove, forget, or delete the saved Sony headphone entry. The exact label depends on the device.
  3. Put the headphones into pairing mode using the instructions for your model, then select their actual name in the playback device’s Bluetooth menu.

If you are unsure how to enter pairing mode, follow the model-specific instructions in Sony’s Bluetooth pairing troubleshooting guide. If the headphones pair with another source but not the original one, focus on the original playback device or contact its manufacturer for support.

Check whether your model supports multipoint

Some Sony models support a multipoint connection to two devices at once, but the feature is not universal. Check the model’s Help Guide or the Systems settings in Sound Connect to confirm support and setup. Sony’s multipoint guidance covers two devices; it does not mean headphones can stream from every registered device at the same time. Sony: Connect headphones to two devices simultaneously

If Bluetooth audio works but Sound Connect cannot find the headphones

Troubleshoot app detection separately from ordinary Bluetooth audio. Sony recommends trying these actions in order:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Update Sony | Sound Connect.
  2. Restart the phone.
  3. Restart the headphones.
  4. Close and reopen the app.
  5. Forget the Bluetooth pairing on the phone and pair the headphones again.
  6. If the app still cannot detect them, use the reset or initialization instructions for the exact model.

For model-specific guidance, see Sony: Cannot connect headphones to the Sound Connect app. Sony’s instructions include model-specific handling, especially for some true wireless earbuds, so do not assume every model uses the same procedure.

Reset or initialize only with your model’s instructions

Sony distinguishes resetting from initialization. Initialization restores factory settings and deletes the headphones’ Bluetooth pairing information. Do not use button sequences copied from another model: steps can differ among products and revisions.

Test with another device to isolate the problem

Try pairing the headphones with a different Bluetooth source, such as another phone or computer. This helps distinguish a problem with the headphones from one involving the original playback device.
