Delisting is scheduled for October 30, 2026, but it is not the game’s shutdown date. Online services are scheduled to end after December 31, 2026; starting January 1, 2027, MyCAREER, MyTEAM, multiplayer, and other server-dependent features will no longer be available.
What happens on each date?

These are separate events: delisting affects new purchases, while the later service sunset affects online play. Dates are based on 2K’s announcements available October 7, 2026, and could be revised. 2K’s NBA 2K25 server-sunset notice has the specific details.

Which modes will still work after online services end?
2K says owners can continue to play Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA. These are the modes it identifies as remaining available after the sunset. However, any feature that needs a connection to 2K’s servers will stop working.
That means you should not expect multiplayer, Online Leagues, or community sharing to remain available. The broader NBA 2K25 Online Services Status page lists modes and services while online features are scheduled to be available through December 31, 2026; for what happens afterward, the game-specific sunset notice is the more direct guidance.

Can you redownload the game after it is delisted?
According to 2K, people who already own the game will still be able to redownload it and play offline modes after the purchase cutoff. That promise is about existing owners; 2K does not say that people who do not already own a license can obtain one after October 30.
2K has not detailed every platform’s post-shutdown installation, account-access, or authentication behavior. If you expect to reinstall later, check your account’s library and the relevant platform’s guidance. Delisting alone does not mean an existing digital entitlement disappears, but platform-specific access conditions are not explained in the notice.

Does your purchase work on another console generation?
Not automatically across every platform. 2K’s cross-generation FAQ says digital PlayStation and Xbox editions include cross-generation entitlements within their respective console families. Nintendo Switch and Steam do not have multiple generations. The FAQ identifies crossplay for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; that is not the same as a universal license or entitlement between platforms.
Before relying on a purchase, confirm the platform and edition attached to your account. Owning NBA 2K25 on one platform does not, by itself, establish that you own it on another.

What this means if you are considering buying it
If you want the game for its offline modes, the announced cutoff does not by itself prevent current owners from continuing to play those modes. If MyCAREER, MyTEAM, multiplayer, or earning VC is central to your decision, factor in their scheduled end: online services end after December 31, 2026, with affected modes unavailable from January 1, 2027. Check the current platform storefront and 2K’s sunset notice before purchasing, because the announcement does not establish current stock, pricing, or post-cutoff access for new buyers.
