You can build a K-Pop Demon Hunters-themed Commander deck, but the official Secret Lair is a seven-card set of themed inclusions—not a ready-to-play deck. Start by choosing a legal commander, then use its color identity to decide which of the crossover cards fit and fill the remaining slots with lands, ramp, card draw, interaction, and a way to win.
What the K-Pop Demon Hunters Secret Lair includes
Wizards of the Coast announced Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters: How It’s Done as part of the Corn Maze Superdrop on September 30, 2026. The announced drop contains one each of these seven cards:
- Dawn’s Truce
- Unbreakable Formation
- Freed from the Real
- Swan Song
- Demonic Counsel
- Tempt with Immortality
- Underworld Breach
The announcement gives prices of $29.99 USD for non-foil and $39.99 USD for foil, and says the drop launches in October 2026. Those are announced prices and timing, not confirmation of current inventory: as of October 7, 2026, the announced launch was still in the future. Check the official listing for sale status.
Choose a commander before adding the crossover cards
A Commander deck has 100 cards total: one commander and 99 other cards. It is generally singleton, meaning you can include only one copy of a card other than basic lands, and every card must fit the commander’s color identity. Wizards of the Coast explains that the commander’s identity comes from mana symbols in its casting cost and rules text; its official Commander format page states, “Every card in your Commander deck must only use mana symbols that also appear on your commander.”
#1 Best Overall
- GET ALL 4 MARVEL SUPER HEROES-THEMED COMMANDER DECKS—Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever, The Fantastic Four, and Doom Prevails
- ASSEMBLE EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES & VILLAINS—The Marvel Universe has arrived in full force! Build your dream super teams of Heroes and Villains, then suit them up with iconic gear and unleash their earthshaking abilities
- 30 NEW COMMANDER CARDS—Each ready-to-play deck includes 30 Commander cards entirely new to Magic: The Gathering
- FOIL BORDERLESS COMMANDERS—Command your decks in style with Legendary Creature cards featuring Borderless art and a shiny Traditional Foil treatment. The Avengers Assemble, Wakanda Forever, and Doom Prevails decks each contain 1 foil Borderless card. The Fantastic Four deck contains 4 foil Borderless cards, 1 for each member of the team!
- EPIC MULTIPLAYER BATTLES—Magic’s most popular multiplayer play format, Commander is an action-packed, free-for-all battle full of strategic plays and social intrigue (best with 3–5 players)
That rule determines which of the seven Secret Lair cards you can include. Do not pick a commander simply because its colors appear to match a character concept: first verify its color identity, then check each card’s current text and identity. A card that does not fit cannot go in the deck, even if its name or art feels perfect for the theme.
Use these criteria to compare legal commander options:
Rank #2
- PLAY THE VILLAIN—Bring the might of the Marvel Universe to the battlefield as you combat your friends with a deck featuring your favorite Marvel villains
- ALL SHALL KNOW DOOM—Harness the power of Doctor Doom and enact your master plan. The connive mechanic either strengthens your Villains or drains life from the whole table. Submit yourself to Doom!
- 30 NEW COMMANDER CARDS—Each ready-to-play deck includes 30 Commander cards entirely new to Magic: The Gathering
- FOIL BORDERLESS COMMANDER—Command your deck in style with 1 Legendary Creature card featuring Borderless art and a shiny Traditional Foil treatment
- EPIC MULTIPLAYER BATTLES—Magic’s most popular multiplayer play format, Commander is an action-packed, free-for-all battle full of strategic plays and social intrigue (best with 3–5 players)
- Color identity: How many of the seven crossover cards can the commander legally accommodate?
- Mechanical coherence: Do the commander’s abilities support a plan that also makes good use of the legal crossover cards?
- Theme: Does the commander and surrounding card art, names, or flavor evoke the characters or story you want to represent?
- Availability and budget: Can you obtain the commander and the support cards you need? The Secret Lair’s announced price covers the seven-card product, not the rest of a deck.
There is no single commander established as the right choice for every version of this theme. Your choice depends on the colors, mechanics, availability, and character interpretation you prefer.
Build the remaining 99 cards around a working game plan
After choosing the commander, give every card a role. The seven crossover cards do not supply the lands and broader support a complete deck needs, so use the rest of the list to make your chosen strategy function in a multiplayer game.

- READY-TO-PLAY COMMANDER DECK—Pick up and play Magic’s most popular multiplayer format
- CONTENTS—100-card Blight Curse deck with 12 new cards (including 2 foil Mythics), deck box, 10 double-sided token cards, strategy insert, reference card
- Confirm legality. Check every proposed card against the commander’s color identity and singleton rule.
- Set a plan for the game. Decide how the deck will develop, what it will do during the middle of a game, and how it can close out a multiplayer match.
- Fill essential roles. Add lands, mana development, card draw, and interaction suited to that plan. Then include cards that help you execute a reliable way to win.
- Choose thematic cards that also contribute. Use the crossover cards where their legal inclusion supports the deck, and connect the rest of the theme through art, flavor, names, and card roles. Avoid adding cards solely for a reference if they leave the deck unable to function.
- Review the finished list. Count to 100 including the commander, confirm singleton and color identity, and check card text and rulings in Gatherer, Wizards’ official card database.
What this guide can—and cannot—promise
This is a construction framework based on the announced Secret Lair contents and Commander rules, not a tested, ready-to-play card list. The available information does not establish a strongest commander, a complete 100-card build, or how any particular version performs at a table. Evaluate a proposed list against your group’s preferred power level and the game plan you chose rather than treating the themed cards as a complete strategy.
Commander is a multiplayer tabletop format. Wizards describes it as “all about picking your hero and building a deck around them,” which makes a character-driven build a natural fit—but the theme still has to work within the format’s deck-building rules.
