In India, update your GST registration on the GST Portal first, then update the affected tax details separately in every marketplace seller account. A marketplace profile change does not amend your government registration. Also handle product-level GST rate or Product Tax Code (PTC) changes separately from registration details.
What changed: GST registration detail, marketplace address, or product tax setting?
Before making changes, compare the current GST registration certificate and profile with the information that has changed. Legal name, business address, constitution or responsible person, authorized signatory, and contact details may follow different amendment paths. The GST Portal distinguishes core fields from non-core fields; not every change uses the same workflow. See the GST Portal amendment guide.
Keep three kinds of records distinct: the GST registration held by the government, the tax profile and location details held in a marketplace account, and the GST rate or PTC assigned to an individual product listing. Changing one does not necessarily update the others.
How do I amend GST details on the GST Portal?
CBIC’s published registration rules say an amendment application must be submitted within 15 days of a change. Check the live portal and applicable rules for the current process; older copies of the rules may use legacy form references. - Log in to the GST Portal and open Services > Registration.
- Choose Amendment of Registration Core Fields or Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields, according to the particular detail being changed.
- For a non-core amendment, edit the relevant tab, complete the verification section, select the authorized signatory, enter the place, and submit. The GST Portal guide says a successfully filed non-core amendment is automatically updated without tax-official approval.
- For a core-field change, use the separate core amendment workflow and follow the portal’s current submission and verification requirements.
- Save the acknowledgement or reference number and check the updated profile. To retrieve an amended registration certificate, use Services > User Services > View/Download Certificates, as described in the GST Portal certificate help.
How do I update GST details on Amazon after registration?
After the GST Portal record is correct, update the seller tax information in Amazon Seller Central. Amazon’s public materials establish that it collects GST details, but they do not give a durable public click-by-click procedure for changing GST registration details on an existing seller account. Use the tax-information settings available in your logged-in account or contact Seller Support for the current route and accepted proof. Amazon’s seller GST guidance covers its GST requirements.
Amazon’s seller registration guide says GST details are required when listing taxable goods. If GST verification fails during the published onboarding process, Amazon says to upload a GST certificate (REG-06 with Annexure A and Annexure B) in PDF, JPG, or DOC format under 10 MB. It says verification may take up to 72 hours and that other registration steps can continue while documents are reviewed. This is onboarding guidance, not a guaranteed processing time for an existing-account amendment. See Amazon’s seller registration guide.

What about Flipkart and Meesho seller accounts?
For Flipkart and Meesho, confirm the current GST-profile update path in the logged-in seller account or with the platform’s seller support. Verify the menu, accepted documents, and the account’s verification status directly with the platform rather than relying on an unconfirmed click path. Once the GST Portal record has changed, do not assume that either marketplace has received the update automatically.
Does a GST address change affect pickup or fulfillment locations?
If the registered business address changes, amend it on the GST Portal and then check which address fields need updating in each seller account. A marketplace pickup location is not automatically the same thing as the registered principal place of business. Amazon says its Easy Ship pickup address should be in the state where the GST registration is held and that the pickup address can be changed in Seller Central account settings. Is changing my GSTIN the same as changing a product’s GST rate?
No. A registration amendment changes business registration particulars; it does not confirm that each listing has the right product tax classification. Amazon explains that GST calculations use the PTC selected for an ASIN, with an account-level default applying when no ASIN-level PTC is selected. Review product-level PTCs separately when relevant. Amazon’s instructions for rate changes effective September 22, 2025 describe editing listings individually or using bulk uploads; check current tax rates and marketplace guidance before applying date-specific instructions. Make a list of every marketplace account and affected field before submitting changes. The tax profile, certificate, pickup address, and product listings are separate scopes of data, so check only the fields affected by the change and verify each platform’s current instructions.

If you also sell through AWS Marketplace, its tax profile is a separate service: AWS says sellers should update its Tax Settings Page when tax information changes because the details are used for marketplace tax invoices. Do not apply that AWS interface to Amazon.in Seller Central or other marketplaces. See AWS Marketplace India tax guidance.
Where a change affects legal identity, PAN, or business constitution, ask each marketplace whether the existing seller account can be amended or whether a different account process applies. There is no universal marketplace policy established for those cases.
