Then check whether a weak signal, a high-use app, or recent software update could explain the symptoms. Warmth during demanding use is not automatically a fault; persistent problems after these checks are a reason to contact OPPO support.
1. Reduce heat exposure and workload
Check what the phone was doing when it heated up: extended gaming or camera use, several active apps, a large download, a bright display, direct sunlight, or a hot room can all contribute. OPPO lists these as possible causes of heating, along with prolonged Bluetooth use. Its general guidance is available in OPPO’s heating support article.
- Lower the screen brightness and pause demanding games, camera sessions, or other intensive tasks.
- Pause large downloads and stop apps or background activity you do not need.
- Move the phone to a cool, dry, ventilated place, out of direct sunlight. OPPO recommends an environment below 32°C (90°F); this is its guidance, not a universal operating-temperature limit for every Find X model.
- Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location, or mobile data only if you do not need them. Keep connections you rely on enabled.
Avoid using the phone in a hot environment while it cools. Do not open the device or root it as a troubleshooting step.
2. Consider signal strength and recent updates
A weak mobile signal can make the phone use more battery and generate more heat. If the problem occurs mainly in an area with poor reception, check whether it eases when you have a stronger signal.

If the heat and lag began after a software upgrade, background app adaptation and file rescanning may be responsible temporarily. OPPO says performance should return to normal after some time, but does not specify a fixed duration. If symptoms persist rather than easing, continue with the checks below.
3. Check which apps are using battery
A high-use app may help explain unusual warmth or slow performance. In Settings, look under Battery for Battery usage or Battery usage by app. OPPO’s documented paths are Settings > Battery > Battery usage on ColorOS 14 and above, and Settings > Battery > Battery usage by app on ColorOS 5.1 and above. Labels and paths can vary by model, software version, and region.

Battery usage can include both visible app activity and background services, such as notifications that continue after an app is closed. If one app stands out, close it and check whether the behavior changes; avoid assuming that battery use alone proves the app or phone is faulty. See OPPO’s guide to checking app battery usage.
4. Restart and check for software updates
- Restart the phone using its power menu.
- Open Settings and look for Software Update, System Update, or an update option under About device. The exact location and label depend on the Find X model and ColorOS version.
- Install an available update if appropriate, then observe whether the symptoms improve. An update is a check to perform, not a guaranteed fix; a new upgrade can itself be followed by temporary background optimization.
5. Back up data before considering a reset
If the phone remains hot or slow after the less disruptive checks, OPPO recommends backing up and transferring important data before considering a factory data reset. A reset returns the phone to its initial settings and can remove user data, so treat it as a later troubleshooting step rather than a first response.

6. Contact OPPO if the problem continues
If symptoms persist after troubleshooting, contact OPPO Support or a customer service location. Use the support site for your region to find available help and service routes: OPPO Support (English) or OPPO Support (India). Service options and eligibility vary by location. The guidance here is general OPPO advice, not a diagnosis or a performance benchmark for every Find X phone; consult the user guide or software support for your exact model if a setting is missing.
