If people say your voice sounds broken, choppy, or extremely quiet on calls, update the Meta AI app and glasses software, then try Microphone adjustment in the app’s Microphone troubleshooting settings. Turn it on or off before a call—not during one. If it does not help, turn it off and pair the glasses again.
First, identify which audio problem you have
Ray-Ban’s documented troubleshooting steps address the glasses’ microphone during calls. They are not a general fix for every audio complaint. If the other person struggles to hear you, follow the microphone steps below. If music sounds quiet or distorted, the cited support guidance does not provide a full diagnosis; checking playback volume and connection state are basic checks, not verified fixes from that guidance.
Improve call microphone audio
- Update the app and glasses. Ray-Ban says its microphone troubleshooting flow requires the latest app and glasses software. In the Meta AI app, open your glasses settings and check the glasses update control. Menu names and software requirements can change. Ray-Ban’s FAQ describes the update requirement and troubleshooting flow.
- Enable Microphone adjustment before a call. In the Meta AI app, open Settings, then Glasses & privacy (or the paired glasses’ settings), Your glasses, and Microphone troubleshooting. Turn on Microphone adjustment, then test on a new call. Ray-Ban warns that toggling this setting during a call can affect audio. See Ray-Ban’s microphone troubleshooting steps.
- If the adjustment does not help, turn it off and re-pair. Switch off Microphone adjustment, unpair the glasses, and pair them again. If call audio remains poor, contact official support or open a warranty case if applicable; the FAQ recommends escalation for persistent problems.
What the speakers and microphones can—and cannot—tell you
Ray-Ban Meta uses open-ear speakers, so playback is not sealed off from the surrounding environment like it is with sealed earbuds. The manufacturer’s product information does not quantify sound leakage or establish a supported way to eliminate the effect of ambient noise. Treat open-ear design as a consideration, not a measured promise about privacy or how loud the glasses will sound in every setting.
Microphone specifications also vary by model. The Meta Store listing for Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) specifies a custom six-microphone array: two microphones in each arm and two near the nose pad. A Meta Store Gen 1 listing specifies five microphones, so do not assume every pair has the same array. The Gen 2 Blayzer Optics listing also gives a loudness specification of 76.1 dB(C) and compares it with Ray-Ban Stories; this is a manufacturer specification for that listed model, not an independent test or a guarantee of what a particular wearer will hear.

Do frame adjustments fix microphone quality?
Not according to the cited manufacturer information. Some Gen 2 optical frames have adjustable temple tips and interchangeable nose pads, and Ray-Ban says an optical retailer can adjust those frame features. That guidance is about fit; it does not say that changing the fit repairs microphone audio, and it should not be generalized to every frame style. The official troubleshooting path for poor call microphone audio is the app adjustment, re-pairing, and support—not an unverified fit change or accessory.
