1. Confirm your region and what is in the box
Before choosing a charger or relying on a specification, check the model and market shown on the packaging or device information. Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G specifications and included accessories vary by market.
- Xiaomi India lists a typical 10000mAh battery, 100W HyperCharge, a supplied 100W charger, and HyperOS 3 with Android 16. Its listed package contents include an adapter, USB Type-C cable, SIM eject tool, protective case, and Quick Start Guide; Xiaomi notes that actual contents may vary. - Xiaomi Spain lists a typical 9210mAh battery and charging up to 100W with compatible PPS adapters. Its package list does not include a power adapter, though it lists a cable, SIM tool, case, guide, and warranty card. See Xiaomi Spain’s specifications.
Those figures describe the cited regional listings, not every version of the phone. Check the accessories actually in your package before buying or connecting a charger.
2. Charge with suitable equipment
If your local package includes a charger, use it as directed. If it does not, Xiaomi Spain recommends a 100W adapter supporting PD or the official Xiaomi 100W adapter; verify compatibility and availability for your market before purchasing. The India listing specifies a supplied 100W charger, while the Spain listing says an adapter is not included. Charging speed depends on the charger, cable, and conditions, so a 100W rating is not a promise that every setup will charge at that rate.

3. Complete the on-device setup
Power on the phone and follow the instructions shown on its screen. Treat this as a practical sequence of decisions rather than a guaranteed screen-by-screen route: prompts and labels can differ by region, firmware, and updates.
- Choose the requested language and region, if prompted.
- Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network when available. This can help with account sign-in, transfers, and updates.
- Choose whether to sign in to a Google account or another account offered by the device. If you are setting up a child’s phone or prefer to decide later, review the prompts carefully before adding accounts or optional services.
- Decide whether to transfer or restore data from an older device or backup. Check the selected items before proceeding, especially if you do not want to bring over every app or setting.
- Set a screen lock when prompted, and review any optional services or permissions rather than accepting them without checking.
For device-specific instructions, use the Quick Start Guide in the box and the prompts on your own phone; exact first-boot order and menu paths are not established by Xiaomi’s cited product specification pages.

4. Secure the phone and review privacy
Use a screen lock that is difficult for someone else to guess. You can also consider biometrics for convenient unlocking, while keeping the screen lock as your fallback. Xiaomi Spain lists an in-display fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock, but enrollment instructions may vary by firmware; follow the on-device guidance rather than relying on a guessed menu path.
After setup, review which apps can access sensitive data and features, such as location, camera, microphone, contacts, and photos. Also check whether message content appears on the lock screen and adjust notification visibility to suit your privacy needs. These are general Android setup practices, not verified Redmi-specific menu instructions.

5. Choose display settings for your use
The official product pages describe a 6.83-inch AMOLED display and a high refresh rate. Pick brightness, refresh behavior, and any eye-comfort options based on your priorities: higher refresh can make motion look smoother, while a lower setting may suit users who prefer it or want to limit power use. Explore the display settings on the phone; exact labels and available choices can depend on firmware.
6. Check for software updates
Once you have a reliable network connection, check the phone’s system-update area using the labels available on your firmware. Install an update if one is offered and follow the device’s instructions; availability and menu names are not specified by the cited product pages. Xiaomi India lists HyperOS 3 with Android 16 for its regional version, which should not be assumed to describe every market or later firmware.

Review what it covers—such as settings, contacts, photos, or app data—and confirm that the relevant account can be recovered. Backup options and exact paths can vary; use the settings and prompts on your device rather than assuming a specific menu route.

8. Check network compatibility and handle water carefully
If mobile service, NFC, or eSIM matters to you, verify that the phone’s regional version supports what your carrier and market require. Xiaomi Spain notes that supported bands and eSIM availability vary by region and carrier, and NFC availability may vary by market.
Do not test water resistance by immersing the phone. Xiaomi Global describes a laboratory claim of up to 2 metres for up to 72 hours in static freshwater under stated test conditions; this is not a recommendation for underwater use or a guarantee in everyday conditions.
