Its public support pages also explain how to carry account progress between platforms and list current storage requirements. They do not explain the game’s internal world-streaming or synchronization architecture, so claims about those systems cannot be confirmed from these sources.
What “seamless open world” means to players
HoYoverse describes Genshin Impact as an open-world game in which players explore using actions such as flying, swimming, and climbing. That describes the experience, not how the game loads terrain, schedules assets, or manages the world behind the scenes. HoYoverse’s game page also advertises cross-play on PC, iOS, Android, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The available official material does not establish whether Genshin Impact streams world regions in a particular way, divides the map into partitions, or uses a specific server-authority or asset-compression design. Those implementation details should not be inferred from the fact that the world is explorable or that players can use multiple platforms.
Cross-play, cross-save, and account linking are different

HoYoverse’s cross-platform synchronization instructions say to use the same HoYoverse Account on each supported platform. The article’s general linking guidance points players to the Account/User Center area and says to link an email and password if needed. If an account was first used on PlayStation, consult the official PlayStation cross-save notice and the current in-game instructions rather than relying on a generic recovery sequence.

Version 5.8 purchase changes
The PlayStation notice, originally posted July 9, 2021 and later updated with Version 5.8 information, says Genesis Crystals purchased across PC, mobile, and PlayStation are linked for the same account following Version 5.8. It also says paid Battle Pass rewards can be claimed across platforms. A separate HoYoverse help article dated October 2, 2025 says platform purchase restrictions were removed beginning with Version 5.8. Because these are version-dependent rules, check the live notices before making a purchase; do not assume every purchase or entitlement behaves like saved game progress.
How much storage Genshin Impact requires
HoYoverse’s system-requirements page, updated November 11, 2025, lists the following available storage. These are published requirements, not performance measurements; the page warns that storage needs may rise with future updates.

For supported Android and iOS devices, HoYoverse recommends 60 GB, above the 40 GB available-storage figure. Consult the current system requirements for operating-system and hardware minimums, which are platform-specific.
PC storage and SSD guidance
The PC requirements page recommends installing the game on a solid-state drive for a smoother gaming experience. It does not quantify a loading-time or frame-rate improvement, nor does it guarantee one for a particular SSD. The listed requirement is available storage, so leave additional room for updates and other files rather than treating the figure as a total drive-size recommendation.

What public sources do—and do not—reveal about the engineering
The official game and help pages support practical conclusions about exploration, supported cross-play and cross-save platforms, account use, and device requirements. They do not describe the mechanisms that make the world feel continuous, such as region streaming, asset scheduling, memory management, world partitioning, or netcode. A surfaced GDC Vault result for a 2021 presentation is not sufficient evidence for those details because the linked presentation could not be accessed.
In other words, players can confirm the cross-platform behavior and published requirements through HoYoverse’s current product and support pages, but the internal engineering behind the open world remains undocumented in the accessible sources cited here.
