Sereact’s dual-arm robots are now handling fashion returns for Zalando at two CEVA Logistics facilities: Greven, Germany, and Świebodzin, Poland. The live deployment uses Sereact’s Cortex platform and a Robotics-as-a-Service model. The companies have not published figures showing the robots’ throughput, accuracy, cost savings or effect on jobs.
What the robots do at the Zalando sites
Sereact supplies the robotic systems and Cortex software; CEVA operates the facilities where Zalando returns are processed. In the companies’ October 7, 2026 announcement, the system is described as autonomously grasping, identifying and sorting returned fashion items without per-item training or fixed SKU profiles. Those are company claims, not independently reported performance results. Sereact, Zalando and CEVA’s announcement
Sereact’s product description outlines a broader returns workflow: opening shoe boxes and packages, removing products from containers, scanning barcodes and labels, checking for damage or anomalies, folding garments, sorting items for resale, refurbishment or disposal, and separating packaging and waste. It also describes handling variable packaging and returned goods, with integration to warehouse management systems, scan infrastructure and analytics. These are vendor-stated capabilities; the deployment announcement does not confirm which individual tasks are active at the two Zalando sites. Sereact’s returns-handling product page
The dual-arm configuration is intended for tasks where one arm can hold or steady an item while the other manipulates it, such as opening a package or handling clothing. Sereact says the general-purpose station can also be assigned work such as inbound receiving or decanting, but those tasks have not been identified as part of this Zalando deployment. Where the deployment is operating and how it is delivered
- Greven, Germany: a CEVA Logistics facility processing Zalando fashion returns.
- Świebodzin, Poland: a second CEVA facility processing Zalando fashion returns.
- Service model: Robotics-as-a-Service, according to the announcement.
The companies describe the sites as the first operational milestone in a wider effort to expand returns automation across Europe. Zalando joined Sereact’s Series B as a strategic investor in July 2026; the companies say that investment backs the initiative. Sereact, Zalando and CEVA’s announcement
How automation fits into Zalando’s existing returns process
The robots are being introduced into an established network rather than creating a new returns channel. Zalando’s June 12, 2025 corporate explainer describes around 20 specialized returns centers across Europe. It says around 98% of returned fashion items can be offered again through Zalando Shop or Lounge by Zalando, including wholesale goods and goods from partners using Zalando Logistics Solutions. This is Zalando’s own description of its broader returns operation, not a result attributed to Sereact’s robots. Zalando: “Returns at Zalando”

A separate German-language explainer published by Zalando on the same date says more than 96% of returned items are in perfect condition and can immediately return to assortment. Zalando describes checking and sorting items, repairing or refreshing them when feasible, and routing them through its network for resale. The company also says returns centers consolidate goods before sending them in bulk to logistics centers, rather than forwarding each return individually. The companies say the systems are intended to take on repetitive tasks and reduce physical strain, allowing warehouse employees to focus more on supervising stations, managing exceptions and checking quality. The announcement does not report how many jobs, if any, are affected, or provide employment outcomes. Sereact, Zalando and CEVA’s announcement

Nor does the announcement publish live-site figures for items processed per hour, sorting accuracy, exception rates, operating costs or resale outcomes. Zalando’s returns and emissions figures describe company-wide context; they do not establish an effect from this deployment. For example, Zalando reported that its upstream transport and distribution Scope 3 emissions rate moved from 15.5% in 2022 to 12.1% in 2025, but did not attribute that change to these robots. Zalando: “Retoure bei Zalando”
For now, the confirmed milestone is operational: Sereact’s systems are live at two named CEVA sites processing Zalando returns. Broader claims about productivity, labor savings or environmental benefits would require deployment-specific measurements that the companies have not provided.
