To make your Galaxy Z Fold8 last longer on a charge, use Power saving when needed, restrict background activity only for apps you rarely use, and reduce screen or connectivity use that is not essential. If you mean preserving battery capacity over months and years, Battery protection is a separate trade-off: it can limit the charge available today.
Stretch the charge you have now
Turn on Power saving when you need extra time
Samsung describes Power saving as a way to extend usage time. Depending on the firmware and mode configuration, it may constrain some functions or background activity. Use it when reaching the next outlet matters more than having every feature run as usual. Samsung documents Power saving in its Galaxy battery settings guidance; that manual covers the Fold6, so confirm the Fold8’s current labels and behavior on your phone.
Restrict background use selectively
Background usage limits can reduce battery use by apps you rarely open. Avoid blanket restrictions on messaging, navigation, health, or other apps that need to work in the background: limits may delay notifications or affect background behavior. Check the Fold8 interface before following any menu path, since the referenced Samsung manual is for the prior Fold6.
Reduce display demand when practical
- Lower screen brightness to a comfortable level.
- Shorten screen timeout so the display turns off sooner when idle.
- Use the cover screen for brief tasks when it is convenient, rather than opening the larger inner display.
These are sensible ways to reduce display activity, but no Fold8-specific measured savings for each action are established. The amount of power saved will depend on how you use the phone.

Pause high-demand tasks and unused connections
Long video sessions, gaming, camera use, high brightness, and mobile data can all add to power use. Pause demanding tasks when they are not necessary, and disconnect from a weak or unused connection when practical. The effect varies with workload, network conditions, and settings; no fixed hours gained can be promised.
Understand what the battery figures mean
Samsung lists a typical 4,800 mAh battery for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and advertises up to 26 hours of video playback. Samsung’s estimate uses a pre-release device, locally saved 720p video on the main screen, default settings, Bluetooth earphones, and LTE. Actual playback varies with settings, file format, network, and battery condition. See Samsung Newsroom for the product announcement.

Tom’s Guide measured 12 hours 19 minutes in its Galaxy Z Fold8 5G web-surfing battery test. That result describes a different workload from Samsung’s local-video estimate; neither figure guarantees how long the phone will last in mixed daily use. See Tom’s Guide’s Fold8 review.
Preserve battery capacity over time
Battery protection is intended to help protect the battery by limiting charging; it does not increase the charge available for that day’s use. Samsung documents this control in its Fold6 battery guidance, but the Fold8 option and wording can vary by software version and market. Check your Fold8’s current battery settings rather than relying on an assumed menu path or maximum charge percentage.

Plan for days away from an outlet
Samsung’s Fold8 support guide confirms charging by USB-C cable with a compatible power adapter and cable. If access to power is the real constraint, a compatible USB-C power bank gives you an opportunity to recharge; it does not reduce the phone’s consumption or improve built-in endurance between charges. Verify that the bank’s output and cable suit the Fold8 and the charging speed you want. See Samsung’s charging and battery guidance.
